Position: Audio Visual Engineer I

MISSION STATEMENT

The Judicial Department works to provide equal access to justice, contribute to public safety, and strengthen the rule of law across Colorado. Together our courts and probation departments are committed to impartial and timely dispute resolution; support for families, litigants, and victims; client rehabilitation; and meaningful community engagement.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES

General Statement Of Duties: The Audio Visual (A/V) Engineer I is responsible for the support and maintenance of courtroom A/V technologies. This includes operating, maintaining, installing, configuring, repairing, and upgrading A/V products in the courtroom while also ensuring optimal performance and integration with other systems such as the Colorado Judicial Department’s (Department) network and court reporting equipment. The A/V Engineer I will analyze and resolve A/V issues in a timely and accurate fashion, as well as support user needs where required.

Distinguishing Factors: This position is distinguished by its focus on A/V troubleshooting assistance for the Department and IT staff and implementing courtroom A/V best practices. A/V Engineers are responsible for monitoring site performance and up-time through ongoing customer communication, recommend and initiate process improvements to maximize operational efficiency, and supports a variety of projects and tasks related to A/V needs.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

50-75% travel is expected. Some work from home is a possibility. The chosen applicant must live within 30 miles from the state border of Colorado. Applicants may negotiate the amount of time needed to relocate if selected for the position; however, relocation expenses will not be covered by the Colorado Judicial Department.

A preferred applicant will be self-motivated with limited supervision and demonstrate excellent customer service. Experience supporting and installing permanently installed AV systems inside of court setting or higher education is preferred. Experience with QSC, Biamp and Crestron control and video systems is preferred. Experience in an AV/IT construction environment (box walks, vendor management, cable pulling, AV hardware installation) is preferred. We believe in the in-house design (and support) of our courtroom AV systems of a statewide judicial system and recognize that this a new and developing frontier in the AV industry that is not duplicated anywhere else.

As such, ITS realizes that the chosen candidate will rarely have courtroom AV experience. Therefore, ITS believes in the importance of on-the-job training and a collaborative team atmosphere to achieve mission success.
