Mainframe Network Engineer

• Must reside in or around Phoenix, AZ and be onsite 3 days a week. Candidates willing to relocate will be considered.

• Design, configure, implement, and support network connectivity for IBM mainframe environments.
• Install, configure, and maintain z/OS Communications Server components.
• Support and manage TCP/IP configuration on z/OS systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot VTAM definitions and network resources.
• Configure and support Enterprise Extender (EE) and SNA connectivity where applicable.
• Maintain TN3270 access and session-related connectivity for end users and applications.
• Ensure stable communication between mainframe systems and distributed servers and internal enterprise applications.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues involving IP routing, port communication, and firewall-related blocks.
• Support file transfer protocols such as FTP, SFTP and other secure data exchange solutions.
• Work closely with network security teams to enforce secure communication protocols, support SSL/TLS certificate implementation and ensure compliance with security controls and audit requirements.
• Assist with firewall rule validation, port usage reviews and vulnerability remediation.
• Support network design and recovery procedures for disaster-recovery environments, validate communication paths for failover systems and backup data centers, and participate in DR tests and business continuity exercises.
• Participate in on-call rotation with engineering teams.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in mainframe networking or z/OS communications support.
• Familiarity with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF.
• Ability to analyze logs, traces and dump information relevant to communication issues.
• Solid knowledge and experience on TCP/IP on z/OS, VTAM, SNA, Enterprise Extender, TN3270, FTP, SFTP and TLS.
• Experience supporting transmission products such as Connect Direct (preferred).
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• IBM mainframe or networking certifications are a plus.

• Annual salary range: $63,840 to $121,440 (U.S.) based on full-time schedule.
• Eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program.
