What Your Job Will Be Like
Are you a Technical Writer & Editor ready to join Sandia National Laboratories and make an impact on critical technical communications in a collaborative environment with mission partners across the Lab? If so, the Knowledge Management Office, is currently seeking a Technical Writer and Editor to join their dynamic team!
Work will be in collaboration with technical staff, and will allow you to demonstrate agility in addressing, negotiating, prioritizing, and scheduling multiple requests to ensure timely delivery to meet partner expectations.

On any given day, one may be called upon to:
* Write, edit, and/or rewrite technical content, including publications, manuals, presentations, and other materials, to effectively communicate technical procedures, research findings, and advancements to internal and external audiences.
* Collaborate with scientific and technical staff and subject matter experts to ensure documents meet requirements, are to standard, and are clear, concise, and understandable to the intended audience, both present and future.
* Exercise quality control over documents and manage them throughout their entire lifecycle, from draft through official release and publication.
* Provide developmental writing and editing for large and complex projects, including interviewing subject matter experts, conducting research, drafting documentation, providing guidance on document structure, and coordinating review cycles to meet schedule expectations.
* Interpret and coordinate documentation and communication policies and procedures.
* Facilitate documentation configuration and records management.
* Partner effectively with other Technical Writers and Editors and Information Management Professionals.
The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Salary Range
$63,800 - $144,400
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, English, Journalism, Technical Communications or other relevant field; or equivalent experience and achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job
* Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Power Point
* Experience using style guide(s)
* Experience in copyediting and formatting of technical documents.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with technical subject matter experts, requiring a strong understanding of English language, grammar, style, and editorial conventions.
* Experience in editing and writing highly technical and potentially classified material within complex scientific areas such as physics, engineering, weapons systems, and experimental technologies.
* Proven experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Developing style guides
* Supporting technical initiatives and policies
* Working with classified or sensitive information
* Compiling and editing presentations
* Familiarity with configuration management best practices related to information management
* Familiarity with Product Management Software, SharePoint, or similar software applications.
* An active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent, such as DOD Top Secret.
