Role Summary

Data Engineer I is responsible for designing and developing modern, data‑centric applications that support clinical and operational workflows across the healthcare system. These solutions leverage cloud technologies, big data platforms, data science methodologies, and contemporary software development frameworks.

• Build scalable data pipelines, transformation and enrichment processes, provisioning layers, and intuitive user interfaces aligned with strategic initiatives.
• Mentor junior Data Engineers and contribute to research and adoption of emerging technologies to establish repeatable processes and templates.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, and Architecture teams for alignment and successful delivery of joint initiatives.
• Own reliability, security, and cost‑efficiency of the enterprise data platform.
• Automate and monitor production pipelines, resolve incidents, and partner with engineering and analytics teams to meet strict SLAs.

• Automation and monitoring of batch/streaming ELT/ETL pipelines across cloud services and Snowflake; keep data fresh and accurate.
• Triage failures, perform root‑cause analyses and post‑mortems, continuously reducing MTTR.
• Orchestrate schedules and dependencies (e.g., Ctrl‑M) and manage connectors (in Fivetran/HVR).
• Build operational automation with SQL, Python, and shell scripting (Bash/Power Shell) on Linux.
• Implement observability: logging, alerting, data‑quality checks, audits, and runbooks.
• Optimize Snowflake performance and spend (warehouses, caching).
• Enforce access controls and secrets management, support compliance and audit needs.
• Partner with product/analytics teams; document procedures and provide reliable on‑call support (rotational).

• Strong SQL, plus hands‑on Python and shell scripting (Bash/Power Shell) on Linux.
• Experience with cloud computing and data warehousing on relational platforms.
• Solid understanding of OLAP/dimensional modeling and RDBMS fundamentals.
• Knowledge of semi/unstructured data (JSON/Parquet) and API integrations.
• Familiarity with open‑source ELT/ETL tooling.
• Git‑based workflows and CI/CD basics for data deployments.
• Experience building and managing data ingestion pipelines from multiple sources into cloud data platforms.
• Working knowledge of Snowflake, including database objects, warehouses, and basic query optimization.

• Snowflake administration experience (account management, RBAC, resource monitors, storage/warehouse configuration, network policies).
• Fivetran and/or HVR experience or equivalent CDC/replication tools.
• Snowflake operations expertise (performance tuning, Streams/Tasks, Snowpark), plus knowledge of Snowflake AI features.
• Streamlit for lightweight internal apps and operational dashboards.
• Experience with enterprise schedulers (e.g., Ctrl‑M) and data‑quality/observability platforms.
• Background in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare/HIPAA) and service management (e.g., Service Now).

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience; senior‑level hands‑on ownership of production data operations.
• 1 or more year of related experience in Snowflake, CTRL‑M, and ADF.

• Master's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
