The Data Science team is shaping user experiences by leveraging data, machine learning, and large language models. This role focuses on applying advanced ML and NLP techniques at scale to improve knowledge discovery and interact with data across Stack Overflow and the AI‑powered platform, Stack Internal.

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning solutions, including data pipelines and model training workflows.
• Improve the performance, reliability, and accuracy of large language models (LLMs) in production.
• Define and track metrics to understand user behavior and product impact.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to identify data-driven innovation opportunities.
• Build and maintain large-scale datasets for advanced analytics and ML applications.
• Develop tools and experimentation frameworks to accelerate product development.
• Serve as a technical thought leader for data science and AI strategy.
• Mentor and support other data scientists.

• 3+ years of experience building and optimizing machine learning or NLP models.
• Hands‑on experience with large‑scale LLMs and modern ML systems in production.
• Strong analytical skills for working with large or unstructured datasets.
• Experience mentoring or leading data scientists.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical insights into business impact.
• Self‑starter mindset with strong problem‑solving instincts.
