UPMC is hiring a Software Engineer-Sr. (Dev Ops) to join their HPLAN App Engineering department. This is a fully remote position on a highly collaborative Dev Ops Engineering team focused on building and scaling CI/CD platforms and automation capabilities across Application Engineering APPLY NOW!
The primary role of the Software Engineer, Senior (Dev Ops) is to design, implement, and optimize enterprise Dev Ops platform capabilities, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment automation for the UPMC Application Engineering organization.
This individual contributes to the strategic planning, standardization, and evolution of automated software delivery processes, supporting the development, testing, and release of modern and legacy applications. The role partners closely with software engineering, quality engineering, release management, and platform teams to improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency across the software development lifecycle.
The position requires a broad technical background, strong problem-solving and automation skills, and a demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and teams.
Responsibilities:
+ Design, develop, and maintain standardized CI/CD pipeline frameworks, reusable templates, and shared Dev Ops tooling to support enterprise-scale adoption
+ Define and enforce standards for pipeline configuration, source control, branching strategies, deployment practices, and integrated Dev Sec Ops capabilities such as automated testing, security scanning, and quality gates
+ Contribute to the evolution of a centralized Dev Ops platform to improve consistency, security, and scalability across teams
+ Identify opportunities to improve software delivery through automation across build, deploy, QA, and release processes
+ Act as a technical consultant to application teams, providing guidance and hands-on support for CI/CD adoption, Dev Ops best practices, and modernizing software delivery practices
+ Typically has 5+ years of related work experience.
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field from an accredited university is required, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating core Dev Ops automation skills and knowledge. (preferred)
+ Typically has 5+ years of experience in a Dev Ops engineering role, with demonstrated success designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and delivery platform improvements. (preferred)
+ Experience working in enterprise-scale environments with cross-functional dependencies and shared platform services. (preferred)

Experience with complex development environments, taking abstract concepts and ideas and formulating a detailed software deliverable Experience in developing on cross-functional systems.
+ Deep knowledge of developing complete systems.
+ Mastery of the SDLC.
+ Highly driven and self-motivated to exceed expectations.
+ Ability to work independently and demonstrated ability to lead in a team-based environment.
+ Proficient in both oral and written communication.
Top 3 Skills Needed:
* CI/CD pipeline design and automation expertise: strong experience building and standardizing pipelines using tools like Azure Dev Ops, YAML, and infrastructure-as-code.
* Dev Ops platform and process improvement: ability to identify inefficiencies and drive automation, standardization, and delivery improvements across build, deploy, QA, and release processes.
* Cross-team enablement and technical leadership: experience working with multiple application teams to guide adoption of Dev Ops practices and influence engineering approaches.
Preferred:
+ Expert-level experience administering CI/CD tools and source control, including Azure Dev Ops (Pipelines, Repos), YAML-based pipelines, and Git-based workflows.
+ Experience designing and implementing infrastructure-as-code solutions using ARM/Bicep, Terraform, or similar technologies.
+
Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud architecture, including API Management, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and secure application. deployment patterns using Key Vault and Managed Identities.
+
Experience with scripting languages such as Power Shell or JavaScript.
+ Experience working within SAFe or similar Agile frameworks.
+ Current or past UPMC employee or contractor.
