• If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. You will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week and from home for the remainder. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.
• If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. You will work from home within the continental US. Occasional office visits may be requested for business needs, with notice provided in advance.

• Sound knowledge of Smart
  
  COMM Modules – Data Modeler, Advanced Template Designer and Web Editor
• Strong knowledge in generating Interactive communications (Draft Editor, Data Capture)
• Good knowledge of Thunderhead/Smart Communication API’s
• Well versed in preparing XML data schemas and mapping to business data objects
• Requirements Definition Development and developing business templates per business requirements
• Consolidating form templates, recognizing common graphical elements, information blocks, layouts, variable data requirements, functional similarity and multilingual content
• Strong understanding of Smart
  
  COMM/Thunderhead concepts & development;
  Sound knowledge of Smart
  
  COMM (Thunderhead) Suites of Products – Advanced Template Designer (Business Content Studio and Admin), Data Modeller (Business Object Studio)
• Attention to detail and results oriented, with a strong customer focus

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related IT field.
• Four or more years of Smart
  
  COMM programming experience or related work experience.
• Experience and understanding of multiple programming languages and applicable applications.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Contribute to the development effort by participating in workshops, speaking about technical solutions, building prototypes, and taking on coding assignments.
• Translate simple to moderately complex user stories into functional and actionable software within the IT environment.
• Collaborate on and inform cross‑functional teams of new feature technical design, technical requirements, limitations, and implementation.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing of new product functionality; analyze and mitigate issues identified during testing.
• Actively participate in meetings with representatives from multiple business and/or IT units.
• Perform other duties as required.

The salary range for this job is $115,000 - $130,000, based on a wide range of factors including education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of posting.
