Project Manager (6-Month Contract)
Systems & Software, a division of Harris, is a software development company headquartered in Winooski, VT. We are seeking a Project Manager for a 6‑month contract role focused on utility Customer Information System (CIS) software implementation projects. The role is remote (or office in Winooski) and may require travel up to 75% across North America. Salary is $40,000–$50,000.
Responsibilities- Coordinate components of utility CIS software implementation projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals; maintain and update detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Identify and report issues, risks or delays to the PMO Manager and stakeholders; provide clear communication and regular updates on project progress.
- Assist the PMO Manager in maintaining project‑management documentation and processes; adhere to Waterfall and Agile methodologies; support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain consistent communication with internal teams (R&D, Sales, Delivery) to ensure alignment on project tasks.
- Assist in monitoring project budgets, ensuring expenses are tracked against financial goals; track and report on project status, timelines and financials, generate regular status reports for the PMO Manager, collaborate with finance teams to verify data aligns with forecasts.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as project delivery timelines and budget variance; analyze execution data to contribute ideas for enhancing team efficiency.
- Participate in client‑facing discussions, document meeting minutes and action items to ensure customer satisfaction.
- 1–3 years of project‑management experience or related role, preferably in software implementations or technical environments.
- Experience managing project budgets ranging from $10k to over $2.5M.
- Familiarity with project‑management tools such as Jira, Spira, Confluence, SharePoint, and Clarizen.
- Basic understanding of Waterfall project management; exposure to Agile methodologies is a plus.
- Experience tracking project financials or budgets is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to engage effectively with team members and customers.
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage tasks with guidance; strong problem‑solving abilities with a focus on learning and delivering results.
- Experience working in a team‑oriented environment, collaborating with cross‑functional groups such as Sales, R&D, and Delivery.
- Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on organization and process.
- Position may require travel up to 75% in North America; frequent communication via Teams, phone calls and email.
