Title:
Fiber Tester 2(With OTDR)
Location:
Washington D.C. (within 40 to 50 miles of IAD), Dallas, TX (within 40 to 50 miles of DFW Airport), CO, AZ, WA, CA (within 40 to 50 miles of an international airport).
Duration: 12+ months contract with possibility for extension.
Pay Rate Range: $38 to $42/hr on W-2.
Remote position with close to 80% travel. Candidate within the vicinity of the above locations will be considered and must work on our W-2. No third‑party candidates.
Job Description Day to DayA team of two people works on a project. They are provided a scope of work document and must understand test results interpretation. The contractor interfaces with vendors during their work day and follows all compliance policies. The contractor communicates with their team and project manager; good communication is key. The contractor is assigned a project to a location between Thursday and Friday and travels on Monday.
Contractor must be available to be reassigned at any moment (this does not happen often).
- Ability to test with OTDR
- Experience in Telecom Industry (3+ years)
- Experience working with Microsoft Software (Word, Excel)
- Experience with inside and outside plant (ISP, OSP)
- Splicing Experience
- CD/PMD
- Maintaining Project Schedules
- Performing fiber characterization tests using OTDR, CD/PMD, power meter/laser source and fiber end face testing using industry‑standard test equipment
- Splicing or re‑splicing problematic fiber strands using industry‑standard fusion splicers
- Fiber end face cleaning using multiple methods
- Providing field analysis on vendor's fiber network from test data
- Preparing testing packages including:
- Redlining of project documentation including fiber path and demarcation points
- Providing test reports as dictated by vendor requirements
- Managing project field documentation
- Interfacing with vendors to provide remediation to fiber path issues
- Performing site surveys to validate vendor infrastructure deliverables, including any issues
- 3 years of experience in telecom industry
- Experience with testing with OTDR
- Fiber network troubleshooting proficiency
- Splicing experience is a benefit
High School education.
