Medical Technical Writer
We are currently seeking candidates for a Technical Writer opportunity with a global medical‑technology company in Boston, MA. The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing, revising, and maintaining high‑quality technical documentation across multiple product lines. The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of technical writing experience within life sciences, with specific experience supporting medical devices and/or IVD products.
This is a 6-month contract opportunity paying between $40–$45/hour (depending on experience). This role supports a hybrid work model of 3 days onsite in Boston, MA
, and 2 days working from home.
- Write, edit, and revise technical documentation for internal and external use
- Perform complex documentation tasks across multiple product lines or specialization areas
- Ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance across all assigned documentation
- Contribute to documentation strategy, resource planning, and milestone execution
- Review and approve controlled documentation and maintain accuracy across versions
Support system and product updates by revising and validating impacted documentation - Monitor project risks and contribute to mitigation planning
- Perform any additional technical writing tasks as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- 3–5+ years of technical writing experience within life sciences (required)
- Specific experience supporting medical device or IVD documentation (required)
- Strong understanding of medical device regulations and governance requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Frame Maker (required)
- Knowledge of Mad Cap Flare (highly desired)
- Excellent grammar, attention to detail, and documentation quality standards
- Strong written communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
