Medical Technical Writer

We are currently seeking candidates for a Technical Writer opportunity with a global medical‑technology company in Boston, MA. The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing, revising, and maintaining high‑quality technical documentation across multiple product lines. The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of technical writing experience within life sciences, with specific experience supporting medical devices and/or IVD products.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity paying between $40–$45/hour (depending on experience). This role supports a hybrid work model of 3 days onsite in Boston, MA
, and 2 days working from home.

Responsibilities
  • Write, edit, and revise technical documentation for internal and external use
  • Perform complex documentation tasks across multiple product lines or specialization areas
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance across all assigned documentation
  • Contribute to documentation strategy, resource planning, and milestone execution
  • Review and approve controlled documentation and maintain accuracy across versions

    Support system and product updates by revising and validating impacted documentation
  • Monitor project risks and contribute to mitigation planning
  • Perform any additional technical writing tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • 3–5+ years of technical writing experience within life sciences (required)
  • Specific experience supporting medical device or IVD documentation (required)
  • Strong understanding of medical device regulations and governance requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Frame Maker (required)
  • Knowledge of Mad Cap Flare (highly desired)
  • Excellent grammar, attention to detail, and documentation quality standards
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
