Cloud Computing: Infrastructure & Operations, Systems Engineer
Position Summary
The Cloud Product Engineer builds and operates Allstate’s cloud application development and hosting platforms, including self‑service tools for developers to build, deploy and run cloud-native applications. The engineer anchors the team, mentors, leads engineering practices, and ensures SLAs for platform operations.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build, manage, and operate platform infrastructure and application environments with a focus on automation and infrastructure as code.
- Lead a team in test‑driven development and continuous delivery of infrastructure.
- Design, build, and operate a continuous delivery framework and tools, automating the lifecycle of platform components.
- Build and operate the infrastructure‑as‑a‑service layer, including hosted and cloud‑based platforms that support platform services.
- Develop comprehensive monitoring solutions using Datadog, New Relic, Azure Monitor, and similar tools.
- Create a log analytics solution for logging‑as‑a‑service via open‑source solutions.
- Integrate components and develop new services with minimal friction for developers.
- Evaluate performance trends, forecast demand and capacity, and establish scalability plans.
- Troubleshoot availability and performance issues across hardware, operating environment, network, and application layers.
- Recommend and maintain technology‑related policies and procedures.
7 or more years in infrastructure engineering, operations, and application knowledge. Minimum 5 years with Azure Cloud Services. Experience with GCP services (Compute, IAM, Networking, image management). Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Technical Skills- Deep understanding of Microsoft Entra , Azure Management Groups, Policy, Azure Regions, Availability Zones, VNets, Private Endpoints, and Express Route.
- Azure Cloud Services expertise.
- GCP services experience.
- Terraform, Datadog, New Relic, Azure Monitor.
- Monitoring, log analytics, and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling.
- Microsoft Office 365 and Azure AD knowledge.
- Infrastructure engineering, operations, and application knowledge.
- Testing and programming.
- Mentoring in extreme programming, product mindset, cloud-as-a-service, and IaC.
- Software development project delivery.
- Paired programming/engineering model.
- Facilitating diverse teams, multitasking under pressure, meeting aggressive schedules.
- Effective cross‑organizational and cross‑geographical communication.
Base salary $ – $ annually, based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation may include incentive pay (commission, bonus, etc.) as applicable.
