IT Consultant, Systems Analyst
Optum Enterprise Epic Services (OEES) team in Nashville, TN builds comprehensive Epic services by combining clinical, consulting, delivery, technology, and operations expertise.
Remote work is available for eligible U.S. locations. Candidates in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area must work in the office at least four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide Epic product function, design, build, and testing expertise for the Epic Care Inpatient module.
- Collaborate with end users to design and build the Epic system, making timely corrective configuration or enhancements.
- Lead small to medium complexity Epic software upgrade initiatives or enhancements, including design, build, and test phases.
- Participate in design and validation sessions, ensuring appropriate documentation, follow‑up, and issue escalation.
- Provide technical and/or clinical consultation including application configuration and review, analyze, and evaluate system needs for customer recommendations.
- Develop, support, and maintain all required system design and build documents and other system documentation.
- Perform daily monitoring of production applications.
- Participate in all phases of the testing lifecycle, performing unit, system, and integrated testing for Epic Care Inpatient workflow.
- Support application incidents reported through the help desk, including 24/7 on‑call coverage as required.
- Obtain and maintain in-depth knowledge of software functionality and operational workflows.
- Perform in‑depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software.
- Work with trainers to develop and maintain application‑specific training curriculum and materials.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications, manage changes to specifications, prioritize, coordinate, and implement updates, review and test each new release, and troubleshoot problems from end users.
- Develop strong relationships with end‑user communities, customers, and business partners.
- Active/current Epic certification in Epic Care Inpatient Orders.
- 5+ years of Epic experience.
- Direct client healthcare domain knowledge such as orders, order sets, and physician workflows.
- Additional certifications in Clin Doc or ASAP.
- Experience in Implementations and Community Connect Implementations.
- Proven ability to demonstrate and have a history of team management (informal or formal), cross‑team communication, and leadership skills.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- In‑depth knowledge of Epic EMR and the full implementation lifecycle of Epic's suite of EMR applications.
- Teamwork and collaboration; consultative and collaborative style with cross‑functional teams.
- Strong internal relationship building and the ability to motivate and inspire other team members through consultative skills.
- Strong ability to build partnerships and influence others across team, group, and business boundaries to drive commonality and reusability in solutions to real‑world problems.
- Strong relationship management skills and ability to handle challenging interpersonal situations.
Pay is based on local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and other factors. Salary range for this role is $91,700 – $163,700 annually, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contribution (subject to eligibility). We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
