Position Title

Networking Analyst

Brief Summary of Work

The Networking Analyst addresses customer needs and supports the day‑to‑day operation of the campus network. The role involves setting up, installing, and maintaining network hardware and software, including VoIP phones, switches, routers, and access points. Responsibilities also include resolving routine to advanced networking problems related to underground infrastructure, hardware, or software, and collaborating with IT staff and other departments on network‑related projects and initiatives.

Working hours may include early/late hours, weekend work, emergency outage coverage, and residence hall support. While primarily on‑site, occasional remote work may be allowed.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Graduation from a two‑year technical college with a major in an Information Technology field and five years of related IT experience; OR graduation from a four‑year college or university and three years of related IT experience. Experience may substitute for required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Network fundamentals and troubleshooting (layers 1 and
    2), including cable and link testing, UPS installation and troubleshooting, and switch configuration troubleshooting.
  • Experience in installation and maintenance of copper and fiber infrastructure.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Cisco network and telephone technologies.
  • Familiarity with 802.1x network environments (Cisco ISE preferred).
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
  • Experience identifying and recommending technical modifications to prevent future problems.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices.
  • Experience managing and installing security patches.
  • Carry/use a ladder and lift up to 50 pounds.
