About the Role
At the Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT), we provide secure digital services that put Coloradans first. As our new Network Administrator II you will provide advanced technical network communications support to State agencies in Southern Colorado (Pueblo, Trinidad, Colorado Springs). This support will be both remote and on‑site, and you will develop, test, implement, and maintain new and existing equipment, including routers, switches, wireless access points, controllers, and VoIP technologies.
Day‑to‑DayResponsibilities
- Provide daily technical operations support and technical expertise for network infrastructure (hardware and/or software) as it relates to data transport (wired or wireless) and information technology.
- Assist with the design, installation, and configuration of network communications infrastructure including routers, switches, wireless access points, and wireless LAN controllers.
- Respond to critical outages and end‑user technical issues escalated through the enterprise service desk.
- Diagnose and appropriately handle network outages, including during on‑call rotation.
- Resolve issues in a timely manner by identifying and correcting problems or escalating them with the service provider when necessary.
- Travel to agencies or locations throughout the state as required to provide on‑site services.
A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority.
Minimum Qualifications- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position, including dedicated experience as a Network Administrator.
- Experience utilizing Cisco‑specific devices (switches and routers) in a medium to large enterprise environment.
- Additional education and certifications may substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis but cannot completely substitute.
- Ability to submit to and pass a Colorado Department of Public Safety background check.
- Relevant years of State Service in a position with similar duties.
- Four years of professional work experience in information technology network operations and support.
- Two years of professional experience in Cisco router and switch configuration.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service skills.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
- Experience managing ISP circuits and scheduling cut‑overs.
- Employees must comply with screening procedures at state agency locations where work may be performed.
- A pre‑employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process, with additional checks as required by business needs.
- Position may require travel within the specified geographic area and across the state as needed.
- All remote work must be performed in Colorado; periodic reporting to the primary state work location is required.
- Relocation to Colorado is required on the first day of employment. A reasonable relocation timeframe will be established individually.
