Mainframe Systems Administrator

Job Description

A mainframe systems administrator is needed to install, maintain, and administer z/OS systems software, leading a team or coordinating projects. This role offers a merit‑based work‑from‑home program: after initial in‑person training the employee can work from home up to three days per week.

• Define and program software routines using established mainframe programming languages.
• Install and/or maintain vendor‑supplied software packages using SMP/E.
• Provide technical support to application programming and other support areas in the use of systems software.
• Debug problems involving systems software.
• Change operating‑system settings and options to support business needs and optimize performance.
• Assist in developing and recommending standards and best practices for the use of systems software.

• Experience with z/OS systems software installation, maintenance, and administration.
• Experience as a team leader or project coordinator.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work occasionally outside normal business hours.
• Experience with CICS installation/administration is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; coursework with emphasis on computer science techniques preferred.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
