The Need:
We're seeking a highly analytical and innovative Senior Data Scientist who is passionate about applying AI and machine learning to solve complex business challenges. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with business acumen, effective communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will drive AI initiatives, using advanced analytics, machine learning, and data-driven insights to enhance operational efficiency and improve decision-making. You will support the deployment of AI solutions across the organization, collaborate with multi-functional teams, and mentor junior data scientists to uphold Michelin’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
Location: Greenville, SC, which is situated just about halfway between Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia.
Contract: Long-term with no defined end date. CTH possible after 6 months but not guaranteed.
Who is the internal/external customer: Internal and external business partners.
Size of group: Varies depending on projects and squads involved.
Work Schedule: Normal work hours are 40 hours per week Monday through Friday.
Remote work: Hybrid, 3-days/week must be on-site in Greenville, SC. Subject to change.
Travel: Significant travel for this role is not expected.
Work Status: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (US Citizen preferred or permanent resident Green Card).
Day-to-day job responsibilities:- Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms.
- Partner with diverse functional groups to identify business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.
- Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights and support decision-making.
- Design and conduct experiments to validate model performance and improve operational processes.
- Monitor and maintain AI models in production, ensuring they operate effectively and efficiently.
- Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the development of standard processes in data science and AI Ops.

- Machine Learning & AI Development: Scikit-learn, Lang Chain, Lang Graph, Model Context Protocol (MCP)
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field required;
Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred, with 5+ years of Data Science experience focused on AI and machine learning, with strong analytical, problem-solving, business acumen, and communication skills. - Proficiency in Python, PySpark, Pandas, and Num Py, with hands-on experience developing machine learning and Generative AI solutions, including LLMs, chatbots, and autonomous AI agents using tools such as Scikit-learn, Power BI, Streamlit, Lang Chain, Lang Graph, and MCP.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), big data technologies (e.g., Spark), and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- Proven success leveraging large and diverse datasets to solve complex business challenges and deliver measurable business impact.
- Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to business stakeholders, collaborate across cross-functional teams, and lead projects from concept through execution.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior data scientists and analysts while balancing technical excellence with strategic business objectives.
