Overview

The Forward Deployed Resources Team supports public safety agencies across the Command Center Software platform. Our mission is to provide cutting‑edge technology and innovative tools, empowering customers to make faster, smarter, and safer decisions. The FDR team supports products such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), Jail Management Systems, Mobile Data Computing, and other offerings.

Job Description

The Premier One (P1) Remote System Administrator will travel to customer sites as needed to address technical issues, backfill for Onsite System Administrators, support new customer cutovers, and perform routine system maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored technical customer operations support.
  • Develop strategies for implementing operational efficiencies by reviewing workflows, procedures, and performance.
  • Execute customer operations policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain positive, effective, and mutually beneficial working alliances with customers.
  • Initiate problem‑solving action and follow through to resolution.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis for problems and recommend improved alternative operations.
  • Identify and suggest possible system and/or process improvements when applicable.
  • Perform periodic system maintenance and software patching, in accordance with Motorola Solutions supplied guidelines, on physical and virtual servers covered by the Maintenance and Service Agreement.
  • Run diagnostics using approved MSI tools.
  • Provide system performance reporting using approved MSI tools when requested.
  • Assist with contractually covered database system backups.
  • Understand system dependencies and related connections.
  • Work with customers to implement Motorola Solutions Technical Notification (MTN) vulnerability resolution and repair procedures.
  • Document root‑cause analyses, system configuration settings, and actions taken in approved Motorola tools.
  • Maintain on‑premise, hybrid, and full cloud systems as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of IT or public safety experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in computer science, networking, engineering, system maintenance (public safety system experience preferred).
  • 3+ years of Public Safety Applications experience involving CAD/RMS/Mobile, and other emergency 911 center equipment.
  • Proven track record working with or deploying enterprise hardware and software solutions; HP preferred.
  • Experience creating positive working relationships with customers and application end users.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast‑paced, demanding environment that requires multitasking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working alone and in a team environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems (MCSA/MCSE).
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, ODBC and Ops Manager (SCOM).
  • Experience with Public Safety Applications including CAD, Mobile and RMS.
  • Experience with virtualization software (vSphere, Open Shift).
  • Experience with Network Load Balancing (NLB) and clustering.
  • Experience with hardware blades and Storage Area Networks (SAN); HP preferred.
  • Experience with firewalls and routers;
    Fortigate preferred.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, .NET, ESRI 10.X and XML.
  • Ability to troubleshoot application system issues including hardware, network and third‑party components.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in customer service.
  • 3+ years of Public Safety Applications experience involving CAD and/or Records Management Systems.
  • 3+ years of IT experience.
Travel & License

Approximately 50% travel within North America. Requires legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely. Employer work permit sponsorship not available.

Security & Compliance

This position requires working in high‑security areas governed by the U.S. Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and requires passing a stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
