IT Manager Network Operations (Full-Time, Hybrid St. Louis, MO)
Technology plays a critical role in enabling business operations and delivering reliable, scalable services across distributed environments. We are seeking an experienced IT Manager Network Operations to lead and oversee network operations in a complex enterprise environment.
This role is responsible for managing day-to-day network operations, leading a team of engineers, and ensuring the stability, performance, and security of network infrastructure. The position offers the opportunity to drive operational excellence, support large-scale network environments, and contribute to ongoing modernization and cloud networking initiatives.
This is a hybrid position based in St. Louis, Missouri, requiring a combination of on-site and remote work.
Leadership & Team Management- Lead and manage a team of network engineers, including providing guidance, coaching, and performance management
- Ensure team effectiveness, resource utilization, and continuous improvement
- Manage staffing levels and scheduling to support 24/7 operational coverage
- Act as an escalation point for critical incidents, including high-priority outages (P1 incidents)
- Build cross-functional relationships to drive collaboration and remove barriers to success
- Partner with leadership and other departments to align network operations with broader IT and business objectives
- Oversee network operations across multiple data centers and distributed locations
- Manage and support enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, and DNS/DHCP/IPAM solutions
- Ensure reliable WAN connectivity across corporate locations and remote sites
- Provide technical oversight for technologies such as Cisco IOS, Arista, Nexus, Palo Alto firewalls, F5 load balancers, and cloud-managed networking solutions
- Oversee resolution of break/fix issues and ensure high service delivery standards
- Manage escalation processes across internal teams and third-party support providers
- Ensure timely response and resolution to network incidents and outages
- Lead and coordinate network-related projects from planning through execution
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure and modernization initiatives
- Manage multiple concurrent efforts and roadmaps within network operations
- Identify and drive improvements in network operations, including automation and monitoring
- Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency and service quality
- Monitor performance metrics and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs)
- Support cloud networking initiatives and ongoing infrastructure optimization
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship requirements
- Must reside in St. Louis, Missouri, or the surrounding area
- Must be able to work 4:00 PM 1:00 AM CST
- 6+ years of experience in network operations or related IT roles
- Experience leading and mentoring technical teams in a complex networking environment
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, cloud networking, and broadband technologies (e.g., VPN, DHCP, DNS, VLANs)
- Understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, and remote access technologies
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using tools like Jira and Confluence
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize effectively, balance risk, and operate in high-pressure environments
- Commitment to incorporating security into all technical decisions and processes
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 2+ years of people management experience (hiring, coaching, performance management, etc.)
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise networking environments
- Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure networking services
- Experience with enterprise tools such as Service Now
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate and improve existing solutions
- Demonstrated ability to drive team development and improve outcomes through coaching
