Position: AI Automation Engineering Intern (Summer 2026)
Location: New York

About the Role

We’re looking for a curious, motivated intern obsessed with speed, systems, and streamlining the way engineering teams work. In this role, you’ll be embedded within the engineering org, helping identify and eliminate inefficiencies through automation, internal tooling, and AI-powered workflows.

Whether it's automating a manual review process, evaluating new AI agents, or reworking internal documentation so it’s actually usable, your job is to keep the machine moving forward.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in the messy middle: part engineer, part ops brain, part problem-solver. You’re not afraid to dive into code (or learn where needed), but you're just as excited about improving processes and helping your teammates ship faster.

What You’ll Do
  • Follow a phased approach to automation projects:
  • Start by supporting automation and internal tooling needs from the CTO
  • Progress to automating workflows within the engineering team
  • Expand to help improve processes across other functions in the business
  • Identify and automate recurring manual tasks using AI tools and scripting
  • Audit internal tools, documentation, and workflows to recommend improvements
  • Assist with lightweight code reviews, scripting tasks, and internal tooling evaluations
  • Research and test automation frameworks, agent-based tools, and AI productivity helpers
  • Join engineering meetings and contribute to documentation and process optimization
  • Collaborate with product, security, and engineering teams to remove bottlenecks and improve delivery velocity
What we’re looking for
  • Interested in automation, cloud infrastructure, or AI-driven workflows
  • Comfortable reading and writing code (Python is a plus)
  • Comfortable working with at least two different LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Mistral, Cohere, etc.)
  • Have worked on automation-related projects
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and curious about how engineering teams operate
  • Excited to learn in a fast-paced startup environment
  • A strong communicator who’s not afraid to ask questions or offer ideas
  • A student looking to gain real-world tech experience in a startup setting
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with Git Hub, Python, or scripting tools
  • Interest in cloud platforms like AWS or GCP
  • Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok for automation
  • Agentic workflows and automation tools
  • Previous internship or personal project related to automation, scripting, or developer tools
Work Setup
  • This is a hybrid role in our New York office (in Dumbo, Brooklyn). You will work part of the time in the office (at least 2 days/week) and part of the time remote/work-from-home.
  • Expected hours of work per week: 20-25 hours.
Compensation

$2,000 per month
