Job DescriptionThis 2‑year, full‑time leadership role is based in New Brunswick, NJ with remote work options in the U.S. The incumbent will lead Med Tech’s global commercial data domain modeling, modernizing our commercial data platforms and analysis systems to improve integration, intelligence, and digital capabilities across all regions and time zones.
Key Responsibilities- Own technical lead responsibilities, from product engineering to architectural strategy, ensuring alignment with the technology roadmap and business needs.
- Collaborate with squad lead engineers, product owners, and business partners to translate business requirements into scalable data‑engineering solutions.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership, conducting design, code, and system reviews while defining technical enablers and solutions.
- Set and enforce technical standards, promote reusability, scalability, and modularity across squads, and drive best engineering practices.
- Manage the technology lifecycle, including product API catalogs and data interface definitions.
- Research and adopt emerging technologies, conduct spikes for innovation opportunities, and ensure timely technology adoption.
- Prioritize technical backlogs, coach and mentor squad members, and resolve cross‑product dependencies and impediments.
- Serve as the single point of contact for ISRM, TQ (Q-CSV), vendors, and enterprise platform owners related to the product area.
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise data pipelines and data products using Azure and Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and modern orchestration methods.
- Enable governed analytics consumption and semantic layer practices through Power BI, focusing on performance, security, and model governance.
- Apply data mesh principles and data federation approaches to support domain‑aligned ownership with federated governance.
- Establish strong data modeling standards (conceptual, logical, physical; dimensional and domain‑oriented) and ensure models are optimized for downstream consumption.
- Implement and enforce data governance, quality controls, lineage/metadata practices, access controls, and data management standards.
- Leadership skills and behaviors; ability to build a culture focused on continuous improvement and employee development.
- Skill in leading cross‑functional teams across multiple technical functions, varied skill sets, and tenure levels.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Strong customer focus and ability to proactively resolve client issues.
- Extensive experience in Agile development, governance processes, and change management.
- Proficiency with Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Power BI, data mesh, data federation, data modeling, data governance, and enterprise data management.
- Experience owning products/platforms over their lifecycle in a multi‑team context.
- Understanding of business needs, processes, value drivers, and industry trends.
- Strong communication skills for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, and/or technical architecture in an enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture decisions and engineering standards across multiple squads/teams.
- Hands‑on expertise with Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Power BI.
- Strong experience with data mesh/data federation concepts, data modeling, data governance, and enterprise data management practices.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and drive alignment on decisions.
- Experience in regulated and/or highly governed environments with strong security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
