Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst
Location:
Remote (U.S. based)
Schedule:
Monday - Friday (8:30 - 5 p.m.)
Starting Salary Range: $62,900 - $110,100 Annually ( $85,000 targeted ; Commensurate w/exp.)
Responsibilities- Responsible for data analytics and additional support for performance measures, ongoing measurement, data collection, reporting, data visualizations, and information dissemination.
- Apply innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer the business objective and drive appropriate change.
- Implement the strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence applications, identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems.
- Ensure that business intelligence applications enhance business decision‑making capabilities.
- Engage in data exploration exercises with a variety of complex business intelligence tools, requiring knowledge of relational database structures.
- Serve as a resource on complex technical and business matters, leveraging expert business/analytical knowledge to participate or lead discussions with cross‑functional teams within ILLD.
- Provide a leadership role within the work group through specialized knowledge, collaborating with ILLD departments to fulfill reporting and analytics for the Homewood Life Design Lab and Master’s Life Design Hub.
- Collaborate with analytic teams and the central engineering team, partnering with the University Data Warehouse (UDW) team to optimize data processes and perform user acceptance testing.
- Take primary responsibility for implementing processes that maintain data security and confidentiality in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., FERPA).
- Prioritize daily tasks and assignments appropriately.
- Work with ILLD divisions and Life Design Lab to communicate, translate, and simplify business requirements.
- Make decisions using available resources to achieve positive outcomes for students, alumni, and employers while maintaining sound business practice.
- Develop strong visualizations and craft cohesive narratives that engage internal and external users.
- Respond to urgent, impromptu, and unplanned situations by assessing importance, instituting appropriate action, and managing communication.
- Communicate decisions to appropriate management and collaborate with analytic teams as directed.
- Lead the implementation of new technology and/or functionality in partnership with the Director of Digital Transformation and subject matter experts.
- Create testing plans and test scenarios for end users during new functionality deployment; prepare incident reports as necessary.
- Complete mandatory software or analytic tool training as required.
- Report and follow up on software problems that delay workflow.
- Serve as backup for day‑to‑day operations, troubleshooting problems, researching solutions, and interfacing with departmental solutions to support staff and student users university‑wide.
- Help keep process and policy guides up to date, reflecting new policies or processes from department directors and the ILLD Associate Vice Provost.
- Assist with developing and deploying methods for measuring training effectiveness, incorporating learnings into future course design.
- Foster relationships and develop projects in the Johns Hopkins and regional community to elevate the visibility and strengthen the brand of Integrative Learning & Life Design.
- Pursue professional development, research, and learning in design thinking, leadership & management, diversity, equity and inclusion, entrepreneurship, and communications to engage and educate Homewood stakeholders.
- Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Four years of related experience, including two years of data analytics experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
