Data Analyst – Justice Services Division

Job Summary

The Justice Services Division of the Community Resources Department is on the hunt for our next “Data Dominator” — a new Data Analyst role! This isn’t a “request comes in, report goes out” job — it’s a chance to build something from the ground up.

We’re bringing data work in-house to strengthen our infrastructure, close longstanding reporting gaps, and turn metrics into real tools for decision‑making.

You’ll have a hand in it all: building division‑wide dashboards from scratch, shaping reporting standards that don’t fully exist yet, contributing to a new database management system, and supporting high‑stakes work like CJC extended‑custody reviews and EPSO quarterly reporting. It’s a foundational, division‑wide scope that will only grow as the role matures.

We’re looking for 3+ years of experience in data collection, synthesis, or analysis — hands‑on with databases, queries, and visualization tools (SQL, BI tools, and beyond). Just as important: the ability to tell a story with data, translate numbers for courts, boards, and the public, and stay steady across stakeholders who each view the data differently.

• Perform a variety of complex activities involved in the collection, analysis, documentation, and interpretation of data and information related to applicable requirements, initiatives, services, and other activities. Independently draw reasonable and sound conclusions consistent with findings and provide presentations.
• Develop data solutions, tools, and capabilities to improve data‑driven efforts, frameworks, data delivery, or dashboards.
• Conduct research, compile data, and use statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends. Isolate potential root causes, project consequences, draw conclusions from analyzed data, organize and explain data and assumptions, and provide solutions or recommendations.
• Design, validate, and assess methods of data collection and analysis; develop and implement protocols for data extraction and analysis. Monitor data collection methods and audit data to ensure data collection methodologies and protocols are followed.
• Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to produce qualitative and quantitative data analysis that supports the organization.

• 3+ years of experience in data collection, synthesis, or analysis with hands‑on experience in databases, queries, and visualization tools (SQL, BI tools, and beyond).
• Ability to tell a story with data, translate numbers for courts, boards, and the public, and maintain consistency across stakeholders.

$70,000.00 - $79,140.00 Annually

Anticipated work schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm; subject to change. The position is primarily performed in person; limited remote work may be available based on operational needs and department approval.

This position analyzes, evaluates, and documents data requirements. Develops a comprehensive data collection and analysis strategy based on functional assignment to evaluate the quality of services, performance, or other business indicators. Identifies and utilizes data solutions to implement data collection; performs data extraction and analysis and presents data. Employment is subject to the terms, conditions, and policies detailed in the Personnel Policies Manual (PPM).

This position requires regular in‑person presence as an essential job function. This position may be subject to grant funding.
