Automation Engineer

The Automation Engineer is responsible for creating automation scripts. The person works with the Architecture, Development groups, Engineering, and Operations to establish standards, best practices and automation infrastructure solutions. This engineer will provide technical guidance in automation by defining standards, assisting with research and design and implementing the required technology for performing automated OS builds and application installs. This engineer will be responsible for designing, creating, maintaining and continually improving orchestrated workflows to automate IT processes throughout the enterprise.

This engineer is expected to work closely with Middleware, Database and compute, Security, network operations, data center team and engineering groups to create automation solutions.

• MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE w/Automated provisioning using vRealize Automation (vRA)
• Serves as a subject matter expert for automation and orchestration
• Supports the existing Automation Portals and provisioning scripts.
• Develop Linux and Windows provisioning scripting using multiple languages/scripting technologies
• Ability to support the automation environment including troubleshooting vRA
• Work with application teams to automate the installation of applications and middleware
• Develop and document automated workflows
• Ability to lead conversations as well as whiteboard/design
• Responsible for gathering business &/or application requirements on the infrastructure to perform the infrastructure requirement analysis & design.
• Plan, design, install, test & implement systems in accordance to specifications & service level. Where relevant, perform the necessary system programming & configuration.
• Manage systems changes through established change request process & provide status reports to the relevant parties.
• Respond promptly to incident, investigate & provide temporary &/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated. Provide timely status updates to relevant parties.
• Conduct root cause analysis & implement pro-active measures. Monitor effectiveness of implemented measures.
• Monitor & measure the performance & availability of systems proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve performance & availability.
• Monitor the agreed service level (.e.g. service request, system availability), document & maintain the configuration of the systems; provide regular reporting to relevant parties.
• Plan & implement service continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business.
• Provide systems related technical advice to customers or project team.
• Established facility management standards/best practices to ensure operation consistency across project/facility management teams.
• Evaluates internal & external business environment to develop long-term strategy for the unit/organization.
• Advise on technology adoption based on business & technical consideration. Propose integration strategies for the various technology components

• Excellent scripting skills (Example: shell scripts, Power Shell, Java script.
• Ability to create vRealize workflows that utilize multiple systems/APIs/Languages
• Experience with Service now APIs
• Knowledge of VMware, Storage and Database technologies.
• Excellent coding and GUI skills.
• Core Java web application/automation development and ability to provide automation solutions.
• Hands on working knowledge with a high level object-oriented programming language is highly desirable.
