EMR Integration Architect
Work location (specify UHG/UHC/Optum location or remote/telecommute)? Minneapolis, Raleigh, Telecommute
Work hours (ex. 9am-5pm day/night shifts rotating shifts etc)? 8-5 CST
Please provide a summary of the project/initiative that this candidate will be working on? Point of Care Assist (POCA) integrates core UHC services into a provider workflow. Candidate for this position will be lead on that work.
Please describe the team the candidate will be working with - how many members? What is the break-down of the teams skill sets (ex: 1 PM 4 Developers etc.)? What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position (please be detailed as to what the candidate is expected to do or complete on a daily basis)?
- Serve as a Technical EMR Integration Architect for the software platform
- Establish architectural patterns for the application
- Work across all development teams to ensure the application being built adheres to established architectural patterns
- Work ahead of the development teams to ensure development teams have a solid design in place and a good understanding of the technical solution when it is time to build it
- Allocate time, on average:
- 50% of the time working with other external teams on architecture and implementation of a system-to-system integration
- 25% of the time working with the team ensuring the new designs follows the established architectural vision
- 25% investigate technology choices or enhancements to the software platform, document solutions, and evangelize new architectural patterns across all development teams
- Work typical on-shore hours (9am-5pm ET) with occasional meetings earlier or later to support other time zones as needed
- Occasionally work with business teams to understand the value platform brings to our customers
What does the ideal candidate background look like (ex: healthcare specific background specific industry experience etc.)? What skills/attributes are required (please be detailed as to number of years of experience for each skill)? What skills/attributes are preferred (what will set a candidate apart)?
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with FHIR implementation of a client or server application (4-6 years)
- Hands-on experience implementing SMART on FHIR application (2-4 years)
- Hands-on experience implementing the OAuth 2.0 Authorization Framework (and any other complementing RFCs) as a server side (2-4 years)
- Technical systems architecture documentation using standardized notation (for example UML) (6-8 years)
- Leading team in the capacity of Technical Integration Architect (4-6 years)
- Higher education in Engineering or Computer Science
- Experience working on an Agile software delivery team (6+ years)
- Experience protecting clinical data covered by HIPAA (6+ years)
- Familiar with clinical data coding systems and domains CPT, ICD, LOINC, etc.
