IT Project Manager, Systems Engineer
Position Overview

Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs.
These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or if the policy changes.
The Lead Architect, Enterprise Monitoring owns the Application Monitoring Core Platform and serves as a subject matter expert. This role drives Eversource’s Application Monitoring standards, processes, and best practices for solution design, development, roadmap creation, and lifecycle management. The position requires technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, and leadership to advance and mature the Enterprise Monitoring practice across the organization.
Essential Functions- Drive a centralized monitoring (Observability and Reliability) strategy and program management to streamline processes, reduce costs, and increase maturity.
- Design and develop end‑to‑end SDLC storm critical application monitoring solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Line leadership and Project Teams to review application architecture, assess monitoring needs and risks, and recommend appropriate monitoring solutions that are “best fit” and impact high system reliability.
- Operate and execute monitoring activities within IT product line teams.
- Partner with the Infrastructure Team for technical support and integration to strengthen observability, and work with IT Security to enable capabilities where feasible.
- Standardize tools at each architectural layer to maximize capabilities and optimize operations.
- Provide single‑pane dashboards with persona‑based insights for stakeholders.
- Oversee and govern federated teams to ensure monitoring solutions align with core platform methodology and adhere to SDLC consistency.
- Provide technical direction on best practices, design considerations, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency through KPIs focused on productivity, quality, and velocity.
- Manage core application monitoring platforms (availability, upgrades, patches, security, license management, etc.).
- Ensure SLAs are met, support incident/problem management, and perform root‑cause analysis.
- Collaborate across IT, business, and production support teams to support key business programs and initiatives.
- Communicate status and operational health to all stakeholders.
- Research, review, recommend, and implement industry best practices and trends.
- Lead community of practice and federated developers to mature the program.
- Manage delivery teams (onsite/offshore) ensuring alignment to schedule, budget, and scope.
- Minimum 8 years leading design, development, and implementation of application and infrastructure monitoring solutions and capabilities at enterprise level.
- Proven experience as a Reliability and Observability leader with hands‑on design, development, and deployment of monitoring solutions for large‑scale, high‑visibility programs.
- Excellent knowledge of methodologies and proven experience with observability tools such as Splunk, App Dynamics, Dynatrace, etc. (mandatory).
- Automation skills (Power Shell, Bash, Python) required.
- Experience with Azure cloud technologies mandatory.
- Knowledge of AIOps concepts preferred.
- Experience in Agile and driving technology capability strategy and roadmap.
