We are seeking a visionary and experienced Vice President, Lead Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join the Investment Banking Chief Technology Office (IB CTO) team in Cary, US. The role will shape the strategic direction and execution of SRE across critical applications and platforms, elevate reliability posture, drive architectural resilience, champion cloud‑native patterns, and proactively mitigate risk.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead platform reliability, performance, and scalability strategy across distributed systems on GCP and on‑premises; provide architectural guidance for resilience and fault tolerance.
  • Define and institutionalize operational excellence, including advanced incident management, blameless post‑mortems, and proactive problem‑prevention practices.
  • Drive automation and tooling innovation to reduce toil, leveraging advanced automation, self‑healing capabilities, and operational intelligence.
  • Establish and drive enterprise‑wide adoption of SLIs/SLOs for mission‑critical services, aligning metrics with business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor across application teams, leading cross‑functional initiatives to improve system stability and reliability culture.
  • Provide architectural stewardship across Infrastructure as Code, capacity planning, and operational documentation to ensure scalability, cost efficiency, security, and disaster recovery.
How You’ll Lead
  • Partner closely with application development leads and platform engineering teams to embed SRE principles into system design and delivery.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior technology and business stakeholders on reliability, risk, and operational resilience topics.
  • Foster a shared culture of reliability, learning, and continuous improvement across geographically distributed teams.
Skills You’ll Need
  • SRE Leadership & Culture:
    Mastery of SLOs/SLIs, incident management, and driving cultural change across teams.
  • Cloud & Platform Architecture (GCP):
    Expertise in designing large‑scale GCP platforms with multi‑cloud or hybrid experience.
  • Kubernetes & Platform Operations:
    Leadership operating large production Kubernetes environments, including service mesh and shared platform capabilities.
  • IaC, Git Ops & Dev Ops Transformation:
    Extensive experience with Terraform, ArgoCD/FluxCD, CI/CD, and SDLC transformations.
  • Observability & Engineering Excellence:
    Advanced monitoring, alerting, logging, and programming skills (Python, Go, Java).
Skills That Will Help You Excel
  • System Design & Troubleshooting:
    Deep expertise diagnosing complex production issues via root‑cause analysis.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    Ability to influence cross‑functional teams and communicate technical risk to senior stakeholders.
  • Financial Services

    Experience:

    Knowledge of compliance and security requirements for critical infrastructure.
  • Mentoring and Knowledge Sharing:
    Effectively mentor engineers and promote scalable learning.

Expectations:
Employees hired into this role will work from the Cary office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $125,000 to $185,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including candidate skill set, experience, education, work location, and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or other remuneration.
