Job Description & How to Apply Below

We're Looking for an Experienced Senior Delivery Manager

Security Benefit is a leader in the U.S. retirement market with more than $60 billion in assets under management. We offer opportunities to thrive, innovate, and make an impact. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in driving the future of the U.S. retirement industry. Security Benefit is a PLACE where we promise to help our customers To and Through Retirement®.

We’re proud to have been recognized as one of the best in the business:

  • Named to Ward’s 50 list of top‑performing life‑health insurance companies
  • Recognized on the list of Ingram’s Top 100 Private Companies in the Kansas City area in 2024
About the Role

As an Senior Delivery Manager you will guide customer‑centric product and platform teams toward high‑quality, predictable delivery. You will facilitate structured, iteration‑based delivery cycles across multiple teams, mentor less‑experienced Delivery Managers, and drive continuous improvement at both the team and program level. This is a practitioner role with organizational reach — you will be a model for the Delivery Manager practice and a trusted partner to Product Managers, Tech Leads, and stakeholders across the organization.

This position reports to the Director of Agile Practices and can be based out of our home office in Topeka, Kansas, our Overland Park, Kansas office, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on‑site.

  • Facilitate iteration ceremonies across multiple teams — Iteration Planning, Backlog Refinement, Iteration Reviews, and Retrospectives — and facilitate Quarterly Planning Events (QPE) to help teams set objectives and commit to realistic, capacity‑based plans
  • Monitor delivery progress and flow across teams, identifying bottlenecks early, keeping commitments visible, and ensuring backlogs are ready for planning
  • Identify and remove obstacles at both the team and program level, escalating and partnering with Product Managers, Tech Leads, and others as needed; shield teams from unplanned work and mid‑iteration scope changes
  • Address systemic issues impacting delivery effectiveness across multiple teams; coordinate shared services participation and foster cultures of transparency, collaboration, and accountability
  • Mentor less‑experienced Delivery Managers as a core expectation of the role — helping junior and mid‑level colleagues develop their craft and ensuring consistency of delivery practice across teams
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Agile frameworks; develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and educational materials to build delivery capabilities across the organization
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team and program productivity, flow, and quality; contribute to the development of Security Benefit’s delivery practice
  • Facilitate coordination and communication across teams, Product Managers, Tech Leads, and stakeholders; represent teams at Cross‑Team Sync, surfacing dependencies, risks, and impediments
  • Define and track metrics to measure team effectiveness and delivery maturity; design tooling standards and mentor organizational adoption of delivery work management tools including Jira and Confluence
  • Champion the delivery practice community within the organization — facilitate knowledge sharing, communities of practice, and cross‑team collaboration
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of hands‑on Delivery Manager or Agile Coach experience, with a track record of facilitating iteration‑based delivery across multiple teams
  • Proven experience mentoring Delivery Managers or Agile practitioners
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of iterative delivery principles and methodologies, with deep practical experience in structured delivery
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, facilitation, and coaching skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem‑solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Experience with organizational adoption of delivery work management tools, including Jira and Confluence
  • Certified Scrum…
