Principal Data Enterprise Architect
The Principal Data Enterprise Architect is a senior strategic leader responsible for defining and executing the enterprise data strategy and architecture, guiding the transformation from fragmented, point-to-point integrations to a modern, domain-driven data product model. You will establish the target architecture, define data products and systems of record, and create a clear roadmap to migrate consumers from legacy data assets to trusted, governed data solutions.
By driving alignment across business and technology teams, modernizing data integration patterns, and establishing governance and standards, you will reduce duplication, improve data quality, and enable scalable, high-value data capabilities that support digital, analytics, and AI outcomes.
This architect will partner with business and technology leaders to establish clear data ownership, reduce duplication, improve data quality, and enable consistent, enterprise-wide data consumption to support digital, analytics, and AI initiatives. This position falls within our Individual Contributor career pathway, and it will not manage any direct reports.
Key Responsibilities- Define Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture
- Establish and evangelize the enterprise data vision, principles, and target architecture aligned to business strategy
- Design the transition from legacy point-to-point integrations to domain-aligned data products
- Drive Data Product Operating Model
- Partner with Data Governance Office to define standards for data products, including ownership, lifecycle, quality, and consumption models
- Establish clear systems of record and authoritative data sources across domains
- Develop and Execute Transformation Roadmap
- Build a prioritized, multi-year roadmap to modernize data platforms and integrations
- Sequence migration of consumers from legacy data assets to modern data products
- Lead Enterprise Data Modernization
- Drive adoption of scalable, event-driven, and real-time data patterns to reduce duplication and latency
- Evaluate and guide selection of data platforms, tools, and integration technologies
- Governance and Standards
- Partner with Data Governance Office to establish enterprise data governance frameworks, standards, and metrics to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance
- Partner with security, legal, and compliance teams to align with regulatory requirements
- Stakeholder Alignment & Change Leadership
- Align business and IT leaders on data ownership, priorities, and adoption strategies
- Drive enterprise-wide adoption and migration to new data products through strong influence and communication
- Mentorship & Leadership
- Provide architectural leadership and mentoring across data, integration, and domain architecture teams
- Promote best practices and build enterprise-wide data architecture capabilities
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise or data architecture, with deep expertise in data architecture and strategy
- Proven leadership in large-scale data transformation initiatives (data platforms, integrations, or migrations)
- Strong experience with data integration patterns, including APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud data platforms
- Demonstrated ability to define enterprise roadmaps and execute across complex organizations
- Expertise in data governance, data modeling, and systems of record
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience implementing data product or domain-driven data architectures
- Experience in healthcare or regulated industries
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF)
- Experience working with modern data platforms (e.g., cloud data lakes, streaming technologies, API management platforms)
Reporting Structure: You will report to an Associate VP, Enterprise Architecture.
Work Style: This position's work style is remote from any of the locations listed below. You must reside in close proximity to one of these locations.

Work at Home Requirements To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:
- At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
- Travel:
While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
Scheduled Weekly Hours 40
Pay Range $156,600 - $215,400 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
