Position: IT Senior Solution Architect (Hybrid)

Job Overview

Eversource supports work‑life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change based on managerial discretion and work performance.

All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example, emergencies, training, or other business needs).

Essential Functions
  • Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges, defines vision and requirements, recommends options (including RFPs or prototype development), and develops a roadmap for the selected solution.
  • Communicates the architecture to stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with other architects and engineers in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
  • Champions a structured approach to business application solutions from selection, implementation and development perspectives.
  • Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including roadmaps and project portfolios for IT systems architecture.
  • Ensures solutions are a fit for the specific purpose and closely align with technology standards guidelines.
  • Influences changes to standards when necessary, working with the enterprise architecture team developing the standards.
  • Identifies and recommends appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Builds and integrates information systems to meet the company’s needs and reduces the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
  • Assesses the current systems architecture, works with technical staff to recommend improvements, and provides supervision and guidance to development teams.
  • Continually researches current and emerging technologies and proposes changes where needed.
  • Informs stakeholders about any problems with current technical solutions and assesses the business impact of technical choices across the overall landscape.
  • Provides updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience related to IT management or other information technology solutions architecture roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs.

Working Conditions

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required and to travel between MA, CT and NH as necessary.

Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment and may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours, and location.
