Role Overview

As a Workday Time Tracking & Absence Consultant, you will work in a team to implement and configure enterprise‑scale Workday solutions for a global customer base, typically leading a project workstream.

You will build relationships with customers, shaping and delivering solutions that are aligned to their needs, fit for purpose, and commercially viable. You will provide excellent guidance to customers, understand their business and requirements, support more junior team members, and share your knowledge with them.

Responsibilities

Lead a functional workstream on a prime implementation throughout the full project lifecycle.

  • Assess customer needs, build relationships, and manage customer expectations.
  • Communicate with customers and colleagues with impact, credibility and empathy, including in a remote working situation.
  • Present formally to senior client audiences.
  • Make sensible decisions under pressure while balancing customer demands and commercial considerations.
  • Provide feedback, support goal setting, and review performance of team members.
  • Participate in recruitment and interview processes.
Minimum (Essential) Requirements
  • At least 2-3 years of Workday Time Tracking & Absence implementation experience.
  • At least 2 years of Workday Time Tracking & Absence configuration experience within the last 3 years.
  • Certification in Workday Time Tracking & Absence.
  • Strong understanding of Workday Time Tracking or Absence and any related specialist capability.
  • Strong customer focus, able to assess needs, build relationships, and manage expectations.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to present with impact, credibility, and empathy.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project and business dynamics.
  • Broad business and technology knowledge with awareness of industry trends in HRM, financials, ERP, or payroll.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and make balanced decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to build and maintain a network of external contacts.
  • Strong consulting skills, including leading workshops and demonstrating complex functionality.
  • Capability to become a subject‑matter expert (e.g., Workday Product Lead).
  • Willingness to mentor and/or line‑manage junior consultants.
  • Support the sales process, including estimates for delivery of work packages.
  • Implement improvements in tools or processes to support the practice.
  • Understand utilization targets within a services organization.
  • Ability to rotate through various Workday delivery services, e.g., Consulting and Application Management Services.
  • For Application Management Services, deliver work to meet defined service‑level agreements.
  • Travel to customer sites in the same region; minimal out‑of‑region travel may be required.
Desirable
  • Workday Time Tracking & Absence Management Certification.
  • Previous experience with Workday Your Way, Launch, or Launch Express.
  • Prior experience with Kronos, ADP, or similar software.
  • Professional qualifications in relevant areas of expertise.
  • Experience in post‑deployment services.
People Management Responsibilities (if applicable)
  • Agree, set, and review goals aligned to Kainos, Workday BU, and the capability.
  • Provide support to achieve team goals and refine them as needed.
  • Review performance against goals, deliver feedback, and conduct 1:1 and project‑completion meetings.
  • Provide regular feedback in Workday and complete end‑of‑year reviews.
  • Identify training and support career progress for team members.
  • Forecast weekly workload, staff allocations, timesheet checks, and utilization.
  • Participate in recruitment and interviews.
  • Monitor attrition and retention metrics.
