Mainframe Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Manager to lead and oversee complex mainframe software migration projects, ensuring successful execution and seamless integration with business processes. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies, including z/OS, AS400, JCL, COBOL, REXX, and SAS, along with a strong background in project management, stakeholder management, risk assessment, and cost optimization. This role requires exceptional leadership skills to inspire teams, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide project management leadership for software migration projects on the IBM Z platform.
Consult with management and review project proposals to determine objectives, timelines, resource requirements, funding limitations, and implementation strategies.
Develop and manage project plans, ensuring successful project execution and delivery.
Report project activities, scope changes, challenges, and requirements to leadership, supporting informed decision-making and alignment with business objectives.
Communicate project status, milestones, risks, and issues to internal management and customer stakeholders.
Review and analyze existing processes and procedures to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and operational improvements.
Drive the implementation of process improvements and best practices.
Monitor and improve program effectiveness, ensuring continuous quality and process improvement with a primary focus on the CLIENT account.
Support a remote work environment with occasional travel to client locations across North America.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Minimum of five years of technical project management experience.
PMP or PRINCE2 certification.
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and operational best practices.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proven experience managing cross-functional technical teams with responsibility for scope, schedule, cost, risk management, change control, and contractual deliverables.
Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and adapt to changing requirements.
Hands-on IBM Z Mainframe experience.
Experience with IBM Z software products and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) product replacement initiatives involving IBM solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in IBM Z application development.
Knowledge of programming languages such as COBOL or PL/I.
