Power BI Developer/Support Engineer – Ramsey County Information Services
OverviewYou will design, develop, and advance the County’s cloud-based self‑service BI framework, creating enterprise reporting solutions that empower county teams to make data‑driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the County’s Power BI subject‑matter expert, defining reporting standards and guiding scalable, cost‑efficient platform use.
- Lead Power BI governance: manage workspace taxonomy, dataflows, semantic models, deployment workflows, and performance optimization.
- Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual report generation and enhance self‑service analytics.
- Develop and deliver intuitive, visually engaging dashboards that turn complex data into actionable insights.
- Mentor county report creators, promoting best practices and consistent design patterns to strengthen data literacy.
- Collaborate with vendors, leadership, and peers to diagnose issues, implement corrective actions, and optimize system efficiency.
- Provide troubleshooting and emergency support for complex applications, server, network, and software issues across the County.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Six years of progressive server hardware and operating‑system administration experience, including mobile and desktop environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, and related reporting technologies.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, self‑directed work style.
The position is flex‑work eligible, allowing a mix of on‑site and remote work while meeting on‑site responsibilities. The role includes regular attendance and support for work‑life balance per the county’s flexible workplace policy.
