Job Description Summary
Sr. Cloud Architect – No
SQL Database Engineer at Humana, Annapolis, MD. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting MongoDB, Neo4j, and vector database solutions in the enterprise architecture, with a strong emphasis on cloud platforms (Azure/GCP), Python development, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Design, implement, and optimize No
SQL database solutions using MongoDB Atlas, MongoDB Enterprise, Neo4j, and vector database technologies. - Develop and maintain infrastructure automation with Terraform integrated with Azure and/or GCP.
- Deploy, manage, and scale database workloads using Kubernetes to ensure reliability and operational efficiency.
- Ensure robust database security, backup, recovery, and regulatory compliance aligned with Humana standards.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide L3 support for production environments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross‑functional teams to integrate database solutions within the enterprise architecture.
- Develop Python‑based automation and data workflows.
- Document processes and solutions per SDLC and cloud engineering standards.
- 3‑Month Goals
- Onboard to Data Platform Engineering team and build relationships with cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Review enterprise architecture, governance, and security standards.
- Assess current MongoDB, Neo4j, and vector database environments; document findings.
- Demonstrate Kubernetes and Git Ops proficiency via development environment enhancements.
- Begin contributing Python automation scripts and Terraform solutions for Azure/GCP.

- Lead implementation or optimization of secure, scalable No
SQL solutions with measurable performance gains. - Integrate AI development tools into data workflows.
- Deliver production deployments using Kubernetes and Git Ops principles.
- Document best practices for security, backup, and compliance.
- Collaborate with Dev Ops and cloud teams to refine CI/CD pipelines.
- Track key metrics such as deployment frequency, reliability, and code quality.
- Lead implementation or optimization of secure, scalable No
- 12‑Month Goals
- Deliver fully operational, compliant, high‑performing No
SQL database environments supporting critical applications. - Provide thought leadership in data platform modernization using AI, automation, and cloud‑native tech.
- Improve uptime, incident response, and regulatory compliance.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.
- Document and present lessons learned for leadership.
- Maintain alignment with enterprise cloud and security standards.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field, or 10years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience with MongoDB and Neo4j in an enterprise environment.
- Practical knowledge of vector databases and modern data technologies.
- Strong experience with Azure and/or GCP, including native application deployment.
- Proficiency in Python for automation and database management.
- Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes (AKS or GKE) for deployment, scaling, and management.
- Solid understanding of database and cluster security, automation, and Dev Ops practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Certifications in No
SQL database technologies or cloud platforms. - Experience with Kubernetes (beyond fundamentals).
- Background in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance standards.
- Salary: $129,300 – $177,800 per year (based on experience, location, and qualifications).
