Information Systems Network Management Specialist – State Bureau of Investigation (Agency 308)
Location: Oklahoma City, OK – Remote working will NOT be an option.
Job Type: Full time, Regular
Compensation- Level I: $83,930.00
- Level II: $88,127.00
- Level III: $92,533.00
Responsible for the design, development, administration, installation, and maintenance of computer networks and operating systems within the Office of the State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI). This includes equipment installation, troubleshooting, client support, coordination of services, procurement, billing, and budgeting.
Responsibilities- Design, engineer, install, and maintain wired and wireless data networks for OSBI.
- Confer with OSBI users and external agencies on connectivity needs for law‑enforcement systems.
- Respond to and troubleshoot issues related to OSBI’s wired and wireless network infrastructure and interagency connections.
- Assist with after‑hours network issues when needed.
- Troubleshoot escalated network issues from Network Administrators and provide technical knowledge to staff.
- Keep current with technical knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards.
- Document technical knowledge and provide training to network administrators.
- Research and recommend improvements and acquisitions for network infrastructure.
- Work with vendors for quotes on new acquisitions and renewals, ensuring compliance with security standards set by the FBI.
- Assist other ITS teams with installation of new systems requiring networking.
- Plan, design and coordinate computer networks or operating systems to support agency operations.
- Perform preventive maintenance and evaluate system performance.
- Respond to malfunctions, identify and resolve causes.
- Coordinate with users to identify network requirements and plan, design, implement new applications or improvements.
- Provide training and assistance to users in operating available systems.
- Conduct system tests and implement engineering or software changes.
- Develop IT strategies, recommendations and plans for procurement of new network technologies.
- Conduct cost studies and participate in budget work‑plan preparation.
- Direct procurement, storage, and inventory of replacement parts, software, and equipment.
- Write equipment specifications and coordinate vendor purchases per state laws.
- Recommend new or modified network standards and supervise lower‑level staff.
- Level I – Basic level, entry‑level work in training status to build skills in installing and maintaining computer networks; responsible for troubleshooting basic issues and referring complex problems to higher‑level staff.
- Level II – Career level; performs a full range of work supporting network systems, understanding and using network designs, and referring complex issues to higher‑level staff.
- Level III – Specialist level; advanced administration, design participation, project involvement, mentoring, guidance, and training of lower‑level staff.
- Level I: Basic networking and computer systems knowledge, equipment use, electronic circuitry, system analysis, communication theory. Ability to troubleshoot basic networking, resolve tasks, communicate effectively, provide customer service and collaborate in a team.
- Level II: Knowledge of switching, routing, firewall, load‑balancing, and cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting methodologies. Ability to analyze and resolve system problems, read network designs, provide assistance and guidance.
- Level III: Knowledge of networks and operating systems, advanced troubleshooting, routing, firewall, load‑balancing, cloud, purchasing, team dynamics. Ability to work in a team, communicate technical info clearly, document specifications, and train staff.
- Level I: High school diploma or equivalent plus 2years of experience troubleshooting basic networking and advanced PC issues.
- Level II: High school diploma or equivalent plus 4years of network experience, or 2years in vocational IT program plus 2years network work, or network certification plus 2years experience. Alternatively, substitute 30 college hours per year of…
