Job SummaryThe Infrastructure Systems Administrator is responsible for infrastructure support and oversees overall operations of the systems and services under general supervision of the Manager, Information Technology.
Key Responsibilities- Researches and recommends innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Interacts with customers and engineers via phone and email.
- Oversees and owns internal systems including Windows, Linux, backups, Solar Winds, TruNAS and Hyper‑V.
- Administers Remote Desktop Services and clustering.
- Manages Azure infrastructure including backups and restoration.
- Documents common issues and resolutions to create a knowledge database for departmental reference.
- Manages change request tasks.
- Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
- Reviews system and application logs.
- Oversees implementation, installation and configuration of new Microsoft Windows server operating systems.
- Monitors, troubleshoots and evaluates existing and new Microsoft Windows server operating systems.
- Oversees the application of OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
- Coordinates with internal staff for baselines and maintenance windows.
- Provides metrics and reports from ticketing systems; keeps management up to date on issues and makes recommendations to streamline processes.
- Oversees Solar Winds monitoring, alerts, and reporting.
- Internal client‑facing role requiring excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication.
- Manage difficult or emotional client situations.
- Respond promptly to client needs.
- Solicit client feedback to improve service.
- Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients.
- Meet commitments to clients.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 4 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills- Experience with server operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
- Experience with Exchange and Active Directory.
- Experience with Hyper‑V networking.
- Experience with change management processes and CMDBs.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Patch management, backup management.
- Azure infrastructure.
- TruNAS storage.
- Microsoft/Linux systems administration certifications are considered a bonus.
- Network diagnostics skills and experience analyzing system and network performance monitoring.
- Experience diagnosing network and service issues and following through to resolution.
- Ability to assess issues, prioritize, respond and appropriately escape.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage time effectively.
- Good interpersonal skills and willingness to work as a team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Reasoning, mathematical, language and writing skills.
- Composure, decision quality, organizational agility, problem solving, customer focus, drive for results, peer relations, time management, dealing with ambiguity, learning on the fly, political savvy.
Regularly required to sit; occasionally stand, walk, lift up to 35 pounds. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision.
Work EnvironmentModerate noise level.
Work LocationPosition is based on‑site for adequate support of internal clients; remote work is an option in certain situations.
Working HoursNon‑exempt; requires flexibility to work beyond traditional hours, including nights, weekends, on‑call, or holidays. 24/7 call center; core business hours Monday through Friday 8:00am‑5:00pm, with after‑hours maintenance as needed.
TravelLocal travel may be required.
