ITAM Software Analyst (SAM)

As the administrator of Software Asset Management (SAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM), you will configure automated discovery tools (Service Now SAM Pro and ITOM) to populate the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). You will maintain data quality, manage software asset lifecycle, administer license allocations, develop governance policies, provide portfolio and spend impact analysis, support audit readiness, and deliver real‑time inventory, compliance, and security information to IT and business teams.

$75,000 – $90,000 (base pay may vary within this range based on experience and qualifications).

Hybrid work within Wisconsin, 45 miles of WPS Headquarters in Madison, WI. You must be able to work in office at least 2 days a week. Remote work is available in the following approved states:

• Can administer and maintain Service Now SAM Pro, including normalization, rationalization, entitlements, contracts and software models.
• Have ensured software license compliance by monitoring usage, managing entitlements and supporting vendor audits.
• Develop governance policies, data standards, training materials and application CI relationship mappings.
• Enjoy managing software asset lifecycle activities from request and procurement to deployment tracking, maintenance and retirement.
• Have built dashboards and reports to measure portfolio health, usage and audit/compliance metrics.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities through license harvesting and optimization of unused or under‑utilized software.
• Partner with procurement and stakeholders on vendor management, contract negotiations, renewals and maintenance agreements.
• Provide guidance to business units on software licensing requirements.
• Participate in implementation and enhancement of ITAM tools and automation initiatives.

• U.S. citizenship is required due to Department of Defense restrictions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field (or equivalent experience).
• ITIL v4 Foundations or CSAM, CITAM certification.
• Three or more years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, IT Operations, Procurement or related field.
• Experience administering Software License/Asset Management platforms such as Service Now Discovery/SAM Pro.
• Strong knowledge of IT asset lifecycle governance, tracking and reporting from procurement through disposal.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of Tier 1 vendor license metrics, terms and support terms.
• Strong analytical ability to manage data, forecast budget impacts and interpret contract terms of use.
