Overview

Data Warehouse Engineer – Milwaukee, WI. Job . Regular employment in the Academic Staff category. Job profile: DW Eng/Developer II.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Design and build ETL workflows, develop data models, and ensure high-quality, reliable data pipelines that support analytics across the campus.
  • Work with Informatica, SQL, Oracle, and modern data warehousing tools to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Assess source connections and options for access and optimal data pipelines; develop and unit test high-complexity load and/or mappings and deploy to production.
  • Conduct complex data exploration (profiling, data quality, binning, pivoting, summarizing, finding correlations) on multiple data types and sources.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy conceptual, logical, and physical data models in accordance with standards for naming, security, lifecycle, and retention; provide architecture options analysis as needed.
  • Cleanse, integrate, and transform complex data according to the target data model and enterprise data definitions and quality measures from data stewards.
  • Inventory and document complex data warehouse assets for discoverability and business use.
  • Present recommendations to address data quality issues and coach lower-level staff on data quality clean-up with metrics and reports.
  • Provide code reviews, coaching, and oversight of lower-level data modelers and data curation developers as needed.
  • Consult with data subject matter experts to document and address data quality issues and support data quality clean-up initiatives with metrics and reports.
Additional Information
  • This position does not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
  • Selected candidates will be required to complete an I-9 form to verify eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Hybrid-flexible schedule with a minimum of one on-campus day per week during initial training and onboarding. More remote work options may be considered based on performance, operational needs, and team alignment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree by date of hire
  • 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or a closely related discipline
  • Proficiency in SQL, including writing and optimizing complex queries
  • Hands-on experience developing ETL processes using modern tools or frameworks
  • Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data modeling techniques, and standard development methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • Experience with Oracle, PL/SQL, and/or Amazon Redshift data warehouse environments
  • 3+ years designing, building, and optimizing ETL workflows and data pipelines, preferably using Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services
  • Experience with data profiling, data quality assessment, and data cleansing practices
  • Experience developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Prior IT experience in a higher-education environment
