Overview

Dewberry is seeking a Geospatial Analyst III for our Fairfax, VA or Tampa, FL office. Remote positions will be considered dependent on experience. This is a career opportunity to join a multidisciplinary consulting and engineering firm. The firm emphasizes professional growth and applying the latest technology. Typical responsibilities include GIS/IT and Remote Sensing projects for state and federal clients across the US, and automated/manual processing of point cloud data.

Responsibilities
  • Experience in analysis and review of topographic lidar data, topobathymetric data, vector data (2D and 3D), DEMs, DSMs, imagery, and derivative products for state, federal, and private clients across the US.
  • Experience creating automated lidar classification algorithms (Terra Solid Products) preferred.
  • Work on initial processing and data classification of multiple topographic and bathymetric lidar projects.
  • Create scripts/models/macros in multiple sensor platforms.
  • Work with Product Line Lead to assist in execution of projects, on time and within budget.
  • Data management: planning and monitoring production data, coordinating with IT and Operations to ensure resources; ensuring data management protocols, file formats, locations, storage, and backups.
  • Perform work following quality control steps to ensure deliverables meet client specifications.
  • Provide feedback and support for SOP development or updates.
  • Collaborate with production staff and Technology/Process Improvement teams to review best practices and improve efficiency and quality.
  • Support improvements to automation of production and QC processes with technical guidance.
  • Task management, problem resolution, report writing, and collaboration.
  • Quality assurance, documentation, and feedback.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in GIS/Remote Sensing with focus on point cloud classification, working with LiDAR and producing elevation data sources.
  • Experience in LiDAR processing and elevation model creation/manipulation, hydrography, or other remote sensing processing, development, and QA/QC.
  • Understanding of GIS and LiDAR concepts including raster and vector data, coordinate systems, projections, and datums.
  • Understanding of LiDAR production workflow and ability to explain acquisition, processing, and deliverable creation.
  • Ability to analyze point clouds and geospatial data layers derived from point clouds.
  • Working experience with Terrasolid products and Micro Station.
  • In-depth knowledge of ESRI products including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under tight schedules.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Beneficial Skills & Experience
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • GISP certification or ASPRS certifications in LiDAR or other remote sensing technologies are a plus.
  • LASTools, LP360, Global Mapper, QGIS experience.
  • Working knowledge of Python or other programming languages.
  • GDAL tools and command line experience.
  • ArcGIS Data Review and Production Editing experience.
  • Experience with Riegl topobathymetric sensors and Optech CZMIL topobathymetric sensors.
  • Experience creating scripts/models/macros in multiple GIS/remote sensing platforms.
  • Experience with national elevation programs such as NOAA Coastal Mapping Program, USGS 3

    DEP, and USGS 3

    DHP.
  • Experience with industry standards and specifications (ASPRS Positional Accuracy Standards, USGS Lidar Base Specifications).
