Overview
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer develops and optimizes business processes to ensure the successful submission and reconciliation of encounter data for Medicaid and Medicare programs. This role focuses on compliance, rigorous data analysis, quality assurance, and building tools that improve encounter acceptance rates. The engineer identifies long‑term process improvements, collaborates with partners to integrate new workflows, and provides solutions to complex data and process challenges.
They lead by example and work with peers to enhance data visibility, quality, and accuracy. The position is part of the Encounter Submission organization and reports to the Associate Director, Business Intelligence.
- Develop and maintain processes and solutions, including Python scripts, SQL queries, Databricks notebooks, Azure Dev Ops pipelines, Power BI dashboards, and process automations.
- Work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines that require exceptional attention to detail.
- Support partners by addressing data issues, performing root‑cause analysis, and proposing applicable resolutions.
- Present clear, applicable insights to both internal and external partners.
- Improve data processes and advocate for innovation in data management practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
- 5+ years of Python experience in data analysis, data quality, and analytics.
- 2+ years of experience applying statistics and machine learning techniques.
- 2+ years of experience building dashboards for reporting purposes.
- Master’s degree in a technical field.
- Experience in the healthcare industry.
- Experience using version‑control tools such as Git or similar platforms.
- Ability to work from home or hybrid settings.
- Minimum download speed of 25
Mbps and upload speed of 10
Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable, or DSL connection is suggested. - Work from a dedicated space that prevents interruptions and protects member PHI / HIPAA information.
- Humana reserves the right to require internet service upgrades if necessary.
Occasional travel to Humana’s offices for training or meetings may be required, despite the position being remote.
Scheduled Weekly Hours40 hours per week.
Pay Range$78,400 – $107,800 per year (starting base pay).
