Position: Data Engineer (f/m/x)
Location: Germany

Data Engineer (Data Pipelines):
Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to integrate digital health records from diverse sources into a standardized data model with an accent on the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model. Focus on enhancing existing data models, improving data integration pipelines, and building cohorts based on standardized data models.

Location:

Hybrid (Potsdam, Berlin). For this position it is important that you are able to regularly be present in our Potsdam and/or Berlin office. Enjoy flexible working hours and the possibility for remote work (up to 2 months/year abroad).

What you will do
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to integrate digital health records from diverse sources into a standardized data model.
  • Analyze and interpret electronic health data.
  • Enhance existing data models to incorporate new data modalities.
  • Collaborate with technical and clinical teams to improve the quality of existing data integration pipelines.
  • Support clinical teams in designing and building cohorts based on standardized data models.
  • Contribute to the ongoing standardization of data models.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of professional experience in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines.
  • University degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Strong background in data handling, integration, and analysis.
  • Experience with data management and interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR, OMOP, SNOMED, ICD-10).
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • In-depth database expertise (SQL), with a focus on PostgreSQL.
  • Solid hands-on experience with ETL frameworks (e.g., Prefect, Airflow).
  • Strong communication skills in English — verbal, written, and presentation.
Nice to have
  • Ideally, some experience in the design of clinical trials or network studies.
  • Experience with Type Script.
  • Knowledge of deployment practices (CI/CD, Kubernetes) on cloud computing infrastructures (e.g., Azure).
  • Experience with wearable and time-series data standards.
