Information Technology Support Engineer – Pima County – Tucson, AZ (in‑office, no remote). Classified position, Salary Grade
15. Pay range $72,009 – $100,817 annually.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment deployments, configurations, and issues encountered.
- Prepare logistics and performance reports, cost‑saving analyses.
- Plan and coordinate the installation and relocation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals across departments or locations.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, IT teams, department heads, and end‑users.
- Lead and participate in support for all types of tickets, resolving problems and creating new capabilities.
- Forecast computing/communications growth and provide proactive capacity management.
- Manage disposal of obsolete equipment and ensure client license compliance.
- Lead automation, installation, configuration, documentation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT assets.
- Drive standardization and strategic implementations via Microsoft Teams.
- Conduct testing to ensure functionality and performance of computing and communications systems.
- Identify and resolve connectivity and equipment malfunctions, troubleshoot hardware failures.
- Manage fiber/copper builds for county cabling projects.
- Oversee communications contractors, ensuring compliance with county specifications.
- Design and build copper/fiber redundancy, create budgets, and forecast maintenance costs.
- Clear contractors for work in court and jail facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, MIS, or a closely‑related field & at least four years of experience maintaining and administering client computing or communications hardware and software infrastructure.
- OR Associate’s degree in a related field & at least six years of experience, including four years in maintenance and administration of client computing or communications infrastructure.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as required.
- Must obtain and maintain Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) certification.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience or academic study of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 design and/or implementation.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience or academic study of Active Directory administration, including Group Policy, DNS, or NTFS.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience or academic study of Exchange Online administration.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience or academic study of certificates and/or Enterprise PKI.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience or academic study of Microsoft 365 administration, architecture, and/or implementation.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience or academic study of change‑management activities, design and execution of complex test plans in Windows server environments.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience or academic study of Power Shell, VBS, or MSGraph to support Windows and/or Azure solutions.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience or academic study of managing VPNs and/or other remote work solutions (e.g., Cloudflare, AOVPN, Absolute Secure Access, RDGateway, Azure App Proxy).
- Valid Arizona driver license required at application and appointment; candidates must pass a 39‑month DOT motor-vehicle record review and a post‑offer physical and drug screen.
- Participation in a rotating on‑call schedule and periodic after‑hours maintenance.
- Field work may involve traveling to client and project sites, using climbing ladders, connecting cables, and lifting up to 50lbs.
- Visual analysis of network diagrams, reading technical documentation, interpreting data.
- Listening to audio signals, using specialized equipment.
- Wearing PPE and following safety procedures.
- Identifying industry‑standard color‑coding of electrical wiring and components.
- Lifting objects up to 50lbs. Performing bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, reaching, squatting, stooping, grasping, speaking, and hearing in various environments.
- Primarily office environment; also field work with computers, laptops, telephones, network analyzers, testing devices, and software applications.
- Travel to various locations including client sites and project sites; potential outdoor work and ladder climbing.
