Salary Range: $165,000 - $260,000

Work Designation
  • Hybrid or remote based on proximity to Aflac offices in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC.
  • Hybrid: office work for at least 60% of the work week if within 50 miles of the offices; remaining time remote.
  • Remote: full-time remote from within the continental United States; occasional office visits may be requested.

Principal

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the IT engineering strategy aligned with the organization’s overall objectives.
  • Collaborate with executives to identify technology opportunities that drive business growth and efficiency.
  • Establish engineering roadmaps and ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of IT engineers and technical professionals.
  • Foster a high‑performance culture by setting clear goals, providing constructive feedback, and recognizing achievements.
  • Recruit and retain top technical talent to build a robust IT engineering team.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, system architecture, and Dev Ops processes.
  • Ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and security standards.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define project requirements and ensure successful execution.
  • Identify emerging technologies and trends to improve the organization’s IT capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation within the engineering team.
  • Drive automation and optimization initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT systems and processes.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $165,000 - $260,000. Compensation decisions are based on factors such as experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; prescription drug coverage; health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts;
Aflac supplemental policies at no cost; 401(k) plan; annual bonuses; stock purchase option; 11 paid holidays; up to 20 days PTO; and applicable state‑mandated leave.
