Primary Purpose

The Business Intelligence group leads USS’ analytics journey, driving business value that creates a sustainable competitive advantage. As Business Intelligence Manager, you will collaborate with Data Engineers and BI Analysts to develop robust business reporting solutions, guide data flow, create complex models, and integrate data in a cloud data warehouse for reporting tool consumption. You will also lead the BI Analysts on the team to oversee Master Data Management, Data Analysis, Report Reconciliations, and Sigma dashboard development, designing critical analytical dashboards, reports, and queries to drive strategic decisions.

Functions
  • Lead cross‑functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, data automations, dashboards, and performance metrics that support key business leaders and users in decision making
  • Recruit, train, develop and supervise analyst‑level employees (contract or FTE)
  • Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, mining and engineering, as well as modeling, visualization and communication deliverables
  • Interface with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data needs
  • Build data expertise and own data quality for allocated areas of ownership
  • Design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production
  • Work with IT data infrastructure to triage infra issues and drive quick resolutions
  • Oversee the data/report requests process using JIRA: track requests, prioritization, approval, etc.
  • Develop and implement quality controls and departmental standards to ensure compliance with quality, organizational, security, and data requirements
  • Organize and drive successful completion of data insight initiatives through effective management of analyst and data teams and collaboration with stakeholders
  • Communicate results and business impacts of insight initiatives to stakeholders within USS
  • Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on‑premises and cloud‑based data sources
Qualifications

• 4‑Year / Bachelor’s Degree Minimum

• 5+ Years of recent IT experience as an Architect, Team Lead, or Manager

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on‑premises and cloud‑based data sources
  • Strong financial competence, business acumen, critical thinking proficiency, and communication skills with a self‑starter mentality
  • ASC 740 experience and preparation of accompanying disclosures
  • Microsoft Word/Excel expertise is essential
  • Reasoning ability
  • Experience working with BI tools such as Sigma, Dagster, Fivetran, DBT, Git Hub, Snowflake, MS Azure, Informatica (a plus)
  • Experience working with applications such as Salesforce, Zuora, Pardot, Navision, Azuga, ADP, Avaya (a plus)
  • Experience using analytics techniques to contribute to company growth, increasing revenue and other critical business outcomes
  • Strong SQL skills, ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries
