Software Systems Engineer |
Location:
Springfield, MA, Hybrid/Remote | Contract | Hourly Pay Range: $60-$65
We are seeking a Software Systems Engineer with extensive experience in Microsoft-based client/server environments and cloud solutions. This role involves supporting the full software lifecycle, including development, deployment, and operational support of enterprise applications. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands‑on environment, actively contributing to technical solutions and troubleshooting complex system issues.
Key Responsibilities- Designs, implements, and tests applications within Microsoft on‑premises and cloud‑based environments.
- Supports the full software lifecycle, including development, deployment, and operational activities for enterprise solutions.
- Troubleshoots system issues by identifying root causes and developing effective resolution plans.
- Supports integration efforts by working with SMEs to build and maintain system interfaces.
- Remediates vulnerabilities and ensures security best practices are followed in application deployment.
- Configures and installs applications, ensuring compliance with change management and IT standards.
- Collaborates with technical teams and end‑users to support system operations and resolve technical issues.
- Conducts knowledge transfer sessions to share technical expertise with team members.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing and administering solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Proficiency with Windows desktop and server operating systems.
- Experience with SQL Server, IIS, .NET, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Active Directory/Entra .
- Relevant Microsoft certifications related to the above technologies.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and hosting environments supporting complex systems.
- Ability to support organizations with strict IT change control processes.
- Work authorization to support hybrid remote work.
- Experience supporting enterprise or large‑scale IT environments.
- Familiarity with security best practices and vulnerability remediation.
- Strong communication skills for supporting cross‑functional teams and conducting knowledge transfer.
