Data Research Analyst

Job Summary
:
The Data Research Analyst will provide analytical support to help manage the research enterprise at the University of Kentucky. In the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), this position will work independently with colleges, departments, and support units across campus to gather requirements and influence how our services are measured by assembling dashboards, self‑service tools, and reports to analyze and deliver information on extramural research data, operations, and strategic decision‑making.

Responsibilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Tableau Desktop, including creating and designing dashboards, connecting to and joining various data sources, constructing complex calculated fields and level‑of‑detail expressions, and using formatting and layout options.
  • Periodically develop, coordinate, and provide training and materials on extramural research data, delivered in person or virtually as needed.
  • Work effectively with stakeholders across the university while managing timelines to ensure reports are timely and accurate.
  • Independently accountable for producing and maintaining metadata, preparing flowcharts and other documentation to illustrate data flow through systems and procedures, writing technical documentation, and assisting with archiving obsolete reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS).
  • Five years of related experience in data analytics.
  • Proficiency with Tableau Desktop, SQL databases, and other analytical tools (e.g., Business Intelligence platforms).
  • Strong communication and analytical skills; ability to work independently and manage separate projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and delivering training on data visualization and analytical tools.
Location & Work Hours

Lexington, KY. Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm. The position may consider hybrid or remote work opportunities for the successful candidate.
