Under the direction of the Learning and Development Manager, this position designs and delivers engaging, user-focused training programs for attorneys and staff through in-person instruction, virtual sessions, and self-paced resources. In addition to providing day-to-day training, the Trainer II serves as a lead resource on select projects, mentors junior trainers, and contributes to the planning and execution of firm-wide technology adoption initiatives.
After a period of onboarding and training, this position is eligible for a hybrid-remote work schedule.
- Delivers and adapts content independently within Firm standards.
- Applies adult learning principles to foster engagement and ensure learning objectives are met.
- Promotes training opportunities through webinars, meetings, and intranet announcements.
- Supports departmental projects and other learning initiatives that drive user proficiency and firm-wide adoption.
- Serves as primary trainer for designated offices, practice groups, or functional areas, ensuring localized needs are addressed within Firm-wide standards.
- Designs and maintain advanced training resources, including quick reference guides, short-form videos, and scenario-based exercises.
- Leads training work streams for small-to mid-size technology projects, including testing, documentation, and implementation support.
- Partners with project managers to align training deliverables with project timelines.
- Offers guidance to new trainers to build delivery and design skills.
- Collaborates with IT, vendors, and internal teams to ensure training reflects current workflows and tools.
- Uses LMS reports, Help Desk data, and learner feedback to identify skill gaps and recommend content updates.
- Suggests process improvements for training delivery, documentation, and tracking, proactively improving the L&D team as a whole.
- Provides status updates to the Learning and Development Manager and align deliverables with departmental goals and project timelines.
- Travels to other Firm offices as needed to ensure equitable training delivery and on-site support across locations.
- Supports other learning initiatives and departmental projects that improve user proficiency and firm-wide technology adoption.
- Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications and familiarity with legal-specific applications such as iManage, Intapp, Litera.
- Demonstrate strong facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt style for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate ability to manage training initiatives independently, with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in creating user-friendly training materials and eLearning content.
- Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in plain language.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple high-priority projects.
- Ability to engage and motivate learners in both individual and group settings.
- Must possess a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills so as to be able to work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest confidence. Required to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
- Must have the ability to make sound judgement and practical decision making, with the ability to apply common sense to varied and sometimes sensitive situations.
- Ability to travel as necessary.
- Associate degree or higher in Instructional Design, Communications, Computer Science, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years in training delivery and instructional design, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment required.
- Experience serving as a training lead on technology projects preferred.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms and eLearning tools (Camtasia, Articulate, Snag It, etc.) required.
