REMOTE VOLUNTEER DIGITAL ACCESSIBILITY SPECIALIST — iLevelUP EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY

Help iLevelUP make student education, college, career, scholarship, and life-readiness resources usable by people with disabilities.

About

The Role

iLevelUP is a Believe in Me education initiative serving students and first-generation learners. The Digital Accessibility Specialist will assess web and mobile experiences, recommend practical improvements, and help volunteers apply inclusive design and development practices.

Responsibilities
  • Review user flows, content, interfaces, forms, media, and documents for accessibility barriers.
  • Evaluate alignment with WCAG and relevant accessibility practices.
  • Test keyboard navigation, focus order, screen-reader behavior, color contrast, headings, labels, alt text, captions, and error handling.
  • Document findings with severity, user impact, reproduction steps, and recommended remediation.
  • Collaborate with product, design, content, engineering, QA, and technical-support volunteers.
  • Create checklists, reusable guidance, and acceptance criteria for future work.
  • Center the needs and dignity of students with disabilities.
Ideal Experience

Digital accessibility, inclusive design, UX, web development, QA, assistive technology, content accessibility, or disability advocacy. Familiarity with WCAG, ARIA, screen readers, automated tools, and manual testing is helpful.

TIME AND LOCATION

Remote and flexible, approximately 2–3 hours per week, with project-based or ongoing participation.

IMPACT AND SUPPORT

Your expertise will help more students independently discover and use educational resources. Volunteers receive orientation, defined priorities, collaboration tools, and access to program and technical leaders.
