Support Engineer (Tier
2) — Remote Contract
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months, with strong potential for extension
Start Date: ASAP
Role Summary
Tier 2 Support Engineer serving as the escalation point for issues requiring technical investigation — bridging front-line support and the development team.
Responsibilities
- Investigate issues escalated from Tier 1
- Apply data corrections in production, with verification before and after
- Review logs and monitoring tools to trace root causes
- Troubleshoot integration issues
- Write root-cause analyses; escalate confirmed defects to engineering with supporting evidence
- Verify reported issues directly with end users
- Participate in production support meetings
Required Qualifications
- Mortgage industry experience with hands-on time in Encompass
- Database experience querying both SQL and MongoDB to investigate data issues
- Experience reviewing application logs and monitoring tools (Datadog or similar) to reconstruct system behavior
- Able to read code well enough to trace a request through the application and identify where behavior breaks down
- Proactively raises concerns and risks, documents clearly, and supports findings with data
- Strong real-time verbal communication — able to explain technical issues clearly on the spot
Nice to Have
- .NET experience
- Postman or similar API testing experience
- Familiarity with Type Script/JavaScript codebases
