UI​/UX Designer (Remote) - Clearance Required

Overview

LMI is seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to support the delivery of next-generation software capabilities for U.S. Army modernization initiatives.
This position requires an Active Secret security clearance.

Working closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, Technical Program Managers, Scrum Masters, Forward Deployed Engineers, and Army stakeholders, you will design intuitive, mission-ready user experiences that enable Soldiers to quickly understand information, make informed decisions, and execute operations in dynamic environments.

You willbe responsible for translating complex operational workflows, command and control processes, and mission requirements into modern, user-centered interfaces that perform in real-world Army environments. Drawing on commercial UX best practices and human-centered design principles,you'llhelp ensure cloud-native, AI-enabled software is not only powerful, but also intuitive, efficient, and trusted by operational users.

What You'll Do

• Lead UX/UI design for next-generation software capabilities supporting U.S. Army modernization initiatives.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Technical Program Managers, Engineering Leads, Software Engineers,Dev Sec Ops , Cybersecurity Specialists, and Army stakeholders to define user experience goals and design standards.

• Conduct user research, interviews, workshops, and usability studies with Army personnel to understand mission workflows, operational challenges, and decision-making needs.

• Translate complex operational processes into intuitive user journeys, task flows, information architectures, and interaction designs.

• Design wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and production-ready user interface specifications.

• Develop andmaintaina scalable design system including reusable components, typography, color standards, accessibility guidelines, and interaction patterns.

• Design intuitive interfaces that visualize operational data, geospatial information, Common Operating Pictures (COPs), task management, AI-assisted recommendations, and mission planning workflows.

• Partner closely with Software Engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible, performant, andoptimizedfor secure cloud-native applications.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.

• Conduct usability testing with Army users and incorporate operational feedback into iterative design improvements.

• Create UX artifacts including user personas, journey maps, workflow diagrams, storyboards, and design documentation.

• Support customer demonstrations, executive briefings, pilot deployments, and operational evaluations through compelling interface prototypes and visualizations.

• Helpestablishscalable UX practices, design standards, and reusable design assets that support future software development efforts.

Required Skills

• Active Secret security clearance is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• 5+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer, Product Designer, or similar role supporting complex software products.
