Position: ChipBrain AI Residency
The Articial Intelligence (AI) Residency Program The Articial Intelligence (AI) Residency Programis a one-year research position designed to giveyou hands-on experience with articial intelligence researchwhile working  Chip Brain program follows our MIT origins andtakes the ‘Mens et Manus’ principle — we believe our greatest achievements result from combiningtheoretical argument and practical engineering. We embody this principle at Chip Brain,and so does our AI Residency Program.

Chip Brain AI residents contribute to both researchdiscovery and product implementation, not just research alone. The program will pair you with both an AI Researcherand an AI Engineer who will support you in your projects. With the team, you will pick a researchproblem of intellectual merit in AI and broader impact through Chip Brain products, then devise andapply new deep learning techniques to solve it.

Because Chip Brain is a fast-paced start-up environment,projects are intentionally exible and often change — “failing fast” is encouraged and you willbe evaluated based on your contributions over the course of the year, not on any individual project. We strongly encourage collaborations with employeesoutside of your mentors. You will communicate your research to the academic community by: (1) submittingpapers to top academic venues (for example, NeurIPS, ICML, KDD, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, UAI,EMNLP, etc.),

(2) product impact, and (3) open-source code. The Chip Brain AI Residency is designed for those interested in a career in articial intelligence. This is a full-time program — you may not take this role whilealso studying at a university or working a full-time job. We encourage applications from people who have a strong technical background and are passionate about AI research.

Prior experience in machine learning is preferred, but not necessary, and we evaluate every applicant based on their own merit. We strongly encourage applicants with diverse backgroundsto apply. Responsibilities
● Learn and perform research in deep learning and AI.
● Understand prior work and existing literature.
● Identify problem(s) of interest with mentors and developnovel AI solutions.
● Frequently translate ideas into practical code (Chip Brainproducts).
● Write up research as an academic paper or open-sourceblog release. Important dates

● Residency lasts for one year, ending in fall of 2022. Location The Chip Brain is based in Boston, MA, USA, however,during the  years, we support remote-work AI residency.

● Will I be paid during the residency?
● Yes. We pay all residents a competitive salary.
● Will the program provide a certicate of completion?
● No. This is not a formal educational program.
● Is this a part-time program?
● No. The Residency is only oered as a full-time position for one year. It is not possible to combine this with university study ora paid job.
● What options will be open to me at the end of the program?
● The residency is ideal preparation for applying totop graduate programs in machine learning. We will invite exceptional performers to interview for full-time positions at Chip Brain.
● Can I do a longer Residency than 12 months?
● The program is only oered for 12 months (extensionson a case-by-case basis).
● Can I do the Residency remotely?
● No. Typically, residents work on-site during theirresidency. We are making exceptions because of COVID-19. Once it is safe totravel, residents will need to work in person. Additional exceptions are allowedon a case-by-case basis.
● I have been out of school for several years. Am Ieligible to apply?
● Yes. We will consider applications from various backgrounds.
● Can I attend or enroll as a student at a universityduring the residency?
● No, the residency can’t be completed simultaneously.
